Come meet the author as she speaks about her writing process and how she wove the feeling and elements of Emily Dickinson’s poetry into her fascinating YA book.

Saturday, April 27, 2013, 12:00pm-Justine St. John and Wilbur the Zucchini Eating Dragon- Do you have a picky eater in your house? Well you are not alone and so you should come meet Justine St. John who will read from her charming children’s book Wilbur the Zucchini Eating Dragon. We will be doing dragon crafts and having some healthy snacks available to temp all picky eaters, both human and dragon!

Spring Rummage Sale at Union Church of Stow
The Union Church of Stow will be holding the Spring Rummage Sale on Friday April 26th  9AM- 1PM and 5PM- 8PM and again Saturday 9AM-1PM.  Wonderful bargains of all sorts — clothing, shoes, linens, books, media, housewares and toys.  Always lots of girls & women’s clothing.  Saturday the already low prices will be dropped, to the floor, when our famous bag sale starts at 11AM.  It’s always fun to come & browse. SAPN New Baby Brunch
On Saturday, April 27th 11am-1pm, at Joelle Spear’s home, Stow. Please join us for one of the cutest SAPN events of the year! If you have a baby under the age of one, or are expecting a little one in the upcoming months, please join other new parents for some brunch and good conversation on Saturday, April 27th from 11 am to 1 pm at Joelle’s home.  You do not have to be a member for the Stow Area Parents Network to attend, so please help to spread the word! Swim Clinic for Nashoba 5-8 Graders
The Nashoba Regional High School swim team will be running a four-week swim clinic at the Atkinson Pool in Sudbury starting April 30th on Tuesdays from 7-8. The clinic is for students in the Nashoba district in grades 5-8 and costs $55. Proceeds go to the Nashoba High School swim program. The clinic is for children with prior swim experience and an interest in competitive swimming. Swimmers will work with team members on the various strokes, turns, and starts. Nashoba Girls Lacrosse Fundraiser Eric Dittelman: Mind Reader
The Nashoba Girls Lacrosse team is having a fundraiser this spring! Eric Dittelman: Mind Reader will be coming to Nashoba Regional High School Auditorium on May 4, 2013  to perform. He entertains audiences with his unique style of mind reading and comedy. He was recently on America’s Got Talent where he made it to the semifinals. This is one performance worth seeing! The show at NRHS starts at 7:30pm, and doors open at 7pm. Tickets are $10 prior to show and $15 at the door. 15th Annual Children’s Day Early Childhood Fair for families of young children.  Join us on Saturday, May 4, 2013, 10AM- 1PM @ the Emerson School, Rt. 117, 50 Mechanic  Street, Bolton, MA. The Fair will be featuring: Chuck & Mudd family music entertainment, Davis Farmland Exhibit, Animal Show, Scholastic Book Fair, Teddy Bear Clinic, Bolton Police- Kids Care ID’s, and much more.

Publishing Networking Group Meeting
Saturday, May 11, 10:30 a.m., Randall Library, 19 Crescent St., Stow. Staying Ahead of the Curve: How to Stay Competitive in Today’s Freelance Marketplace. Today’s business environment has many challenges for editorial freelancers: local and global competition for our services; the depressed economy pushing down rates; stringent legal requirements for independent contractors; staying current with the latest technologies; marketing your services in the world catapulted by social media. How do you stay competitive and relevant given all these pressures? Where do you spend your time for maximum benefit?  Tim Rosa, President and CEO of TRA360, will explore these issues in our meeting on May 11. Tim will discuss these questions in an engaging, interactive, and dynamic format. The meeting is open to EFA members and non-members, freelancers, and anyone interested in publishing. SpringFest 2013 Plans Underway
Stow’s SpringFest Committee is busy making plans for this years’ Festival to be held on Saturday, May 18th at the Stow Community Park.

Once again it will be a day filled with fun for all Stow residents offering several inflatables, free popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones.  Come see Animal Adventures, get an airbrush tattoo and enter a new event called the “duck drop.”  Not up for inflatables? Come listen to wonderful music and have lunch.  Not hungry? Watch demonstrations, check out vendors wares and see friends and neighbors.

Springfest LEGO Contest
Attention all LEGO fans, young and old! The date for the Springfest LEGO contest has been set – Saturday, May 18 – but your help is needed for the contest to go forward. Volunteers are needed before the contest and the day of the contest.  Before the contest, we need to come up with the theme, promote the contest, purchase prizes, and locate display tables. The day of the contest we need volunteers for setup, checking in contest entries, and “guard duty” to make sure the displays don’t get damaged.  This is a great opportunity for LEGO fans of all ages (PreK – Adult) to show off their LEGO building skills. Book Donations for the Randall Library Friends Book Sale
We are currently accepting donations for our upcoming book sale at the Randall Library in Stow that will take place on May 18 and 19.  Donations of gently used children’s and adult books (paperback and hardcover), DVDs, CDs, and books on CD will be most welcome. We will not be taking magazines, textbooks, cassettes VHS tapes or items in bad repair. Please bring your donations to the Randall Library circulation desk.

Lake Boon Assoc Annual Meeting
Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 7:00 pm. Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, 680 Hudson Road, Sudbury. Featuring our own Professor Richard Gelpke, speaking on geological and archeological aspects of the Lake Boon area. This presentation will follow the business meeting where you can learn what is going on around our lake, meet your neighbors, help plan for the summer’s activities, renew your membership.

Basic Rights: The TEAM Evaluation Process and Related Questions
Presented by Barbara Rich, M.Ed. and the topic of SPED PAC meeting on Monday, April 29th at 7:15 pm, in Room 206 at  Nashoba Regional High School in Bolton.  The evening will include an overview of the evaluation and TEAM meeting process, eligibility for special education (or a 504 plan), questions and answers, parents rights and responsibilities under state and federal laws. Bolton Holds 4th Annual Townwide Yard Sale
Just one more week until the long-awaited Bolton Townwide Yard Sale! Be there on Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to browse more than 50 locations for that special treasure! Maps guiding shoppers to sale locations will be available on May 3 after 12:00 noon at Country Cupboard, Bolton Orchards, and Slater’s—all on Route 117, as well as Firewater & Wine on Forbush Mill Road. Maps will also be available online that afternoon at www.BoltonLocal.org. Rain date for the sale is May 5. (A light mist won’t cancel the event on May 4, but a downpour will.)

Bolton 4H Fair
The 2nd Annual Bolton 4H Fair will be held Sunday, May 5th from 12-3pm at The Bolton Fair Fairgrounds, 318 7 Bridge Road (Rt. 117) Lancaster, MA.  This free, family friendly, 4H event offers something for everyone.  There will be a Rabbit Show, Exhibits, Pony Rides, Crafts, Food, Raffles, Face Painting, Demonstrations and an Animal Costume Parade.  Free admission and free parking.  Come see the power of our youth!
