Stow Girl Scouts Wants You to Join the Fun!
At Girl Scouts, big adventures and awesome friends always go together. Where else can you zip line through the trees, code your own app, run a cookie business, and so much more? For $25 per year, girls in grades K-12 can experience opportunities to have fun, try new things, and make memories with friends and family. The only tough decision will be which adventure to pick first!

Can’t wait to learn more? Attend our free Stow Girl Scout Registration event on Thursday, December 3, 6pm, at the Randasll Library, and become a member of the largest girl-led organization in the world. Guest Table Community Supper in Stow
All are welcome to a new community supper in Stow. Guest Table at FPC serves dinner from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the first Friday of each month at First Parish Church of Stow & Acton (FPC). The next community supper will take place on December 4. Guest Table welcomes everyone, in or out of Stow, whether they’re looking for a sense of community, are feeling lonely, are having some financial difficulties, or just want a change of atmosphere. There’s no charge for dinner, but donations are gratefully accepted. Dinners will be nut free, with gluten-free and dairy-free options available.
To enjoy this dining event, simply show up at FPC’s Fellowship Hall on the first Friday of the month at 5:30p.m. FPC is located at 353 Great Rd. Its facilities are wheelchair accessible. For more information contact [email protected].

Holiday Decoration Sale
The Stow Friends of the Council on Aging is conducting the annual sale of donated Christmas decorations on Saturday, December 5, at the Council on Aging Friendship Room, from 9am to 1pm, in the lower level of the town building. Come early and pick out the good treasures at bargain prices. This is a great opportunity to get like-new items to decorate your home for the holidays and help the seniors of Stow at the same time.

On Saturday, December 5, the Stow Women’s Club will hold its 32nd annual Breakfast with Santa. This event will be held at St. Isidore Church, 429 Great Rd., from 9am-11am. Admission is $3 per person with a maximum of $12 per family.

This is a wonderful morning when families gather to enjoy a pancake breakfast and celebrate the season. It is also our organization’s major fundraiser for the year. The proceeds support a number of community organizations, including the Stow Food Pantry, Warm Hearts of Stow, and our local schools. Key attractions include photographs with Santa for a small fee, inexpensive items for children to purchase as holiday presents, and our popular Silent Auction.

Beautiful Brazil on Display
A special public reception featuring a vivid display of wildlife photos from Brazil – jaguars, colorful birds, amphibians, giant otters, and much more – will be held Sunday, December 6, at Nancy’s Airfield Café in Stow. The reception runs from 3–4:30pm, and everyone is welcome to attend. This reception kicks off a show that will run through January. All photos were taken early this fall during an exciting expedition to Brazil’s Pantanal region, where large rivers flow swiftly through woodlands, meadows, and scrubland, and the wild animals are still protected. The photographers were Sue Abrahamsen and Bob Cooke, both members of the Assabet Valley Camera Club. Sue is a longtime resident of Hudson, while Bob more recently moved to Stow from Long Island, NY.

In addition to the photos, the reception will feature exquisite snacks prepared by Nancy and her café staff.  Nancy’s Airfield Café is at Stow’s Minuteman Airfield, 302 Boxboro Rd. There is no entry fee.

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR COA HOLIDAY EVENT
On Wednesday, December 9, the Stow Council on Aging will attend a holiday storytelling event at the Amazing Things Arts Center in Framingham. Local storyteller Libby Franck, known for portraying historical characters, will tell holiday stories from long ago. The cost of this event is $8 for the van and admission. It is open to the public. Lunch afterward will be on your own at O’Connell’s Pub.

GIrl scouts Cradles to Crayons drive
Girl Scout Troop 72529 is conducting a donation drive of new or gently used items for Cradles to Crayons from now until December 10. There are donation boxes in the Hale and Center lobbies, or for dropoff contact [email protected]. Most needed items include baby, toddler and kids’ clothing, coats, new(unopened) socks & underwear, new hygiene items. Please no stuffed animals, DVDs, CDs, used board games, computer games, or electronics.

Stow Athletic & Recreation Supporters Inc. (STARS) will hold its First Annual Gingerbread House Decorating Event on December 12, 9:30am – 12:30pm, at the Hale Middle School Cafeteria. All ages are invited. The cost is $16 per house when ordered in advance (or $20 at door). STARS is a group of parents and other interested parties whose mission is to enrich our community by providing financial support for athletic and recreation programs. CHRISTMAS VESPER SERVICE AT FIRST PARISH CHURCH
On Sunday, December 13, at 5pm, First Parish Church of Stow & Acton (FPC), Unitarian Universalist, will hold a Christmas Vesper Service. It will include a string quartet prelude and Christmas Oratorio by Camille Saint-Saëns, sung by the First Parish Church Adult Choir with professional soloists, string quartet, organ, and piano.

Stow Soccer Club Spring 2016 Registration is now open
Stow Soccer programs are available for pre-K age to 4th grade boys and girls. Registration will close for some programs on December 31 and late fees will be charged thereafter. Please register before December 31 to ensure your player’s spot on a team. Register online at www.stowsoccer.org.

Boy Scout Tree pickup Service
Stow’s Boy Scout Troop 1 will be offering Christmas tree pickups at $10 per tree, and trees will be picked up at the end of your driveway January 15 and 16, 2016. Please make your tree pickup reservation by January 6 via website or mailed-in payment. The scouts will appreciate your order!

OPEN HOUSE/REGISTRATION FOR NASHOBA PRESCHOOLS
The Nashoba Regional School District will be holding its 2016/2017 Open House/Registrations/Preschool Screenings for the Nashoba Integrated Preschools on Friday, January 15, 2016, from 12:30pm – 3pm. An appointment is required to attend. For an appointment with the Center School Preschool, contact Mary O’Brien at (978) 897-0290 x-6100.

We will also be scheduling screening for 3 and 4 year olds of Stow. Screenings can also be scheduled throughout the school year. This screening is a brief assessment of developmental milestones.
