Free Photo Exhibit
Local photographer Linda Shelales will be exhibiting a sampling of her work during the month of November at Nancy’s Airfield Café, 302 Boxboro Rd. She calls the exhibit “Views Near and Far.” You’ll see a variety of scenes, including the Teepee Desert Formations in Arizona, the Boston Skyline, the Sudbury Grist Mill, Portland Light and more. There will also be some birds and a variety of wildlife  on display.
Linda is a long-time resident of Bolton and secretary for the Hudson-based Assabet Valley Camera Club. One of her photos that won “Judge’s Choice” award in the Ocean State International Salon will be included in this public exhibit.

NASHOBA GIRLS LACROSSE SPRING 2017 REGISTRATION
Beginning Nov. 1, registration will remain open and be open to the general public until Nov. 30. A discount will be offered to those players who register before Nov. 15. Team sizes will be limited. stow garden club presents tony todesco
The Stow Garden Club’s next meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7:30pm at the Union Church. Tony Todesco, founder and owner of Stow Florist/One Main Street Studio, of Stow, will be the guest presenter. Tony is now a Design Consultant for the National Garden Club. We are also delighted that he is a member of our Garden Club. Design program have been presented to numerous museums, including The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and The Minneapolis Institute of Art. Ribbon Cutting at Professional Aesthetics
All are invited to the Grand Opening Reception of Professional Aesthetics of Central MA, the new aesthetics clinic in Stow. Located at 132 Great Rd.  Free, this event is slated for Friday, Nov. 4, from 11:45am to 1pm, and features a Ribbon Cutting with the Assabet Valley Chamber of Commerce at 12pm, with a complimentary lunch to follow. Guest Table Community Supper
Guest Table, a community supper in Stow, serves dinner on the first Friday of each month at First Parish Church of Stow & Acton (FPC). Guest Table welcomes everyone, in or out of Stow, whether they’re looking for a sense of community, are feeling lonely, are having financial difficulties, or just want a change of atmosphere. There’s no charge for dinner, but donations are gratefully accepted. Dinners will be nut free, with gluten-free and dairy-free options available. The next meal will be offered on Nov. 4 from 5:30 to 6:30pm at FPC’s Fellowship Hall. FPC is located at 353 Great Rd. Its facilities are wheelchair accessible. Publishing Networking Group Meeting
At the next Publishing Networking Group meeting on Saturday, Nov. 5, 10:30am, at Randall Library, the theme will be Scientific Grant Editing for Fun and Profit. Natalie Rudolph will discuss her life as a specialist in biomed/biotech project planning and grant writing. Challenges include meeting client and funding agency expectations, selling novel technology proposals to skeptical reviewers, and managing the business of free-lance writing/editing. And why is it that the single biggest reason that grant applications do not get funded is “failure to follow directions”?

ANNUAL HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR
The Annual Holiday Craft Fair sponsored by The Stow Friends of the Council on Aging will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9am to 3pm at the Stow Community Center, 509 Great Rd. This is your invitation to visit the new Stow Community Center and to take advantage of the great holiday craft shopping provided by carefully selected crafters from the local area. There will be a baked goods table featuring wonderful breads, cakes and sweets and home canned jellies and jams. ellers from the past year at a very good price. Hot dogs, corn chowder and drinks will be on the lunch menu as well as Dunkin’ Donuts coffee courtesy of  the Stow Gulf Dunkin’ Donuts. Blues Musician Miraglia at New Revival Coffeehouse
Outstanding blues singer, guitarist, and harmonica player Danielle Miraglia will open the season at the New Revival Coffeehouse on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 7:30pm, in the Fellowship Hall of First Parish Church of Stow & Acton. Dollars for Scholars Pie Fundraiser
Nashoba Regional Dollars for Scholars provides scholarships to Nashoba Regional High School Seniors each June. This year, we have teamed up with Wilson Farms of Lexington for our second annual Giving Thanks Pie Fundraiser. Online sales will continue through Nov. 12 and you may also order pies during parent teacher conferences. Each pie costs $15, and will be available for pick up the Friday before Thanksgiving (Nov. 18) at the high school. Please order your pies online at www.sites.google.com/site/nashobardfs.

SCT ANNUAL MEETING POTLUCK DINNER AND PRESENTATION
It’s time again for the Stow Conservation Trust’s annual event. The Social time and Potluck Dinner begin at 6pm on Saturday, Nov. 12, at  Stow Town Hall. To bring a food item, call Donna Beusch at 978 897 7920. To attend the presentation only, come at 7:45pm.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Robert J. Gegear on “A Bee’s Eye View of Conservation”. Pollinators are declining at an unprecedented rate worldwide due to human-induced rapid environmental change.  Because these declines pose a significant threat to our food supply, the focus has been on strategies to increase pollinator abundance in agricultural areas. Boy Scout Holiday Wreath Sale & Tree pickup Service
Stow’s Boy Scout Troop 1 has begun their annual wreath sale. The scouts will be making their way around town but there are not enough scouts to visit all homes, so you can also order wreaths by going online to www.troop1stow.net to order or print out an order form and mail your check with your order to Troop 1 Stow, PO Box 75, Stow, MA 01775, or order directly online. Your wreaths will be delivered starting Thanksgiving week.

The holiday wreaths are beautiful natural evergreens and are available in three sizes, Small (18” outside diameter), Medium (22” outside diameter) and Large (40” outside diameter). All wreaths are supplied with a red bow. The small and medium size wreaths are available with and without decorations. The small plain wreath is priced at $14 and the small decorated is $18. Medium wreaths are $17 plain and $20 decorated, and large plain wreaths are $50. Wreath payment is due by Nov. 13.

Remembrance Service
In November we remember those who have died.  To mark this time, the Apple Valley Catholic Community of St. Isidore and St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parishes invites the local community to participate in a Remembrance Service on Friday, Nov, 18, from 7:30–8:30pm, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington St. in Acton. The service will consist of music, scripture, prayer, and a time for all gathered to light a candle. NRHS RoboChiefs Fundraiser
Clean out unwanted clutter before the holidays! The Nashoba Regional High School Robotics Team, the RoboChiefs, are holding a Savers donation drive to raise funds for their build season and to benefit the community.Please fill bags and boxes with no longer used soft goods such as: clothing/shoes, accessories, towels, blankets, tablecloths, backpacks, etc. We are also accepting hard goods such as small kitchen appliances, hair dryers, toys, games, stuffed animals, pots/pans, silverware, stemware, knick-knacks, media- books, magazines, records/tapes/CDs/DVDs, and sports equipment! Saturday, Nov. 19, from 8am to 1pm, in front of the high school (12 Green Rd., Bolton). It would be greatly appreciated if items were bagged or boxed. Thank you!

10th Annual Stow Gobbler 5K Run/Walk
Would you like to work up an appetite this Thanksgiving while helping a good cause? Then consider running, walking, or volunteering in the 10th Annual Stow Gobbler 5K. The race will take place this Thanksgiving morning (Nov. 24), beginning at Stow Community Park and ending at Bose in Stow. Supported by Stow Recreation, this event will donate all proceeds to Habitat for Humanity and the Stow Community Chest. The race launches at 8am. Early check-in and race registration will be held from 3-5pm on Wednesday, Nov. 23. Women’s Club Breakfast with Santa & Silent Auction
On Saturday, Dec. 3, the Stow Women’s Club will hold its thirty-third annual Breakfast with Santa at the Church of St. Isidore, 429 Great Road, Stow from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.  Admission is $4 per person with a maximum of $15 per family.  RSVP’s are not required. Key attractions include photographs with Santa Claus for only $10, a White Elephant table with a variety of inexpensive items for sale, and our popular Silent Auction.  An Usborne  Books representative will also be on hand with a large selection of quality educational books for children.  It is also our organization’s major fundraiser for the year. Proceeds support a number of community organizations, including the Stow Food Pantry, Warm Hearts of Stow, and our local schools.
