9th Annual Stow Gobbler 5K Run/Walk
Would you like to work up an appetite this Thanksgiving while helping a good cause? Then consider running, walking, or volunteering in the 9th Annual Stow Gobbler 5K.

The race will take place this Thanksgiving morning (November 26), beginning at Stow Community Park and ending at Bose in Stow. Supported by Stow Recreation, this event will donate all proceeds to Habitat for Humanity and the Stow Community Chest. The race launches at 8am. Early check-in and race registration will be held from 3-5pm on Wednesday, November 25. Registration can also be done at 6:30-7:30am on race day.

Hike Flagg Hill with the Conservation Commission
Escape from the Black Friday post-Thanksgiving shopping frenzy on Friday, November 27 and join the Stow Conservation Commission for a celebration of GREEN Friday with a free hike at Flagg Hill Conservation Area. Adults and families are welcome. Please do not bring your dog.  Park and meet at the Flagg Hill Garage adjacent to 220 West Acton Rd. at 9:30am. The hike will last approximately 1 – 1.5 hours and is guaranteed to burn off at least a little of your holiday meal! No RSVP required. ORDER YOUR HOLIDAY FROM STOW GARDEN CLUB
Stow Garden Club is taking Special Orders ONLY this year for designer wreaths, decorated boxwood trees, kissing balls, and door swags…your colors … until November 29.  Please contact MariePatrice Masse at 978-579-0897. There will be NO Stow Garden Club Holiday Greens Sale this year. Special order items only can be picked up at Stow Town Hall on Saturday, December 5, from 9am until 12noon. Proceeds go back to the community through the many activities and projects supported by Stow Garden Club.

The club also will offer two special make-and-take workshops at Stow Town Hall; registration IS required (MariePatrice Masse at 978-579-0897) by November 29:

Make-Your-Own Boxwood Tree Workshop, Wednesday, December 2, 10am to 8pm, $45 – you’ll create a beautiful, long-lasting, 12-inch Christmas tree-shaped arrangement from Boxwood tips. Stow Garden Club provides instructions and all materials, including bows, balls, and decorations. Take home a delightful, long-lasting holiday arrangement. These make excellent gifts and can be decorated as “winter” arrangements for those who don’t observe the holidays.

Wreath Decorating Workshop, Saturday, December 5,  9am to 12noon,  $40 – You’ll learn how to decorate your own wreath. Your colors, your tastes, traditional, modern, or whimsical. Instructions and materials provided, including wreaths, bows, balls, pine coness, and decorations. Want to use your Boy Scout wreath? Bring it along and save $10.

NASHOBA GIRLS LACROSSE SPRING 2016 REGISTRATION
Spring Registration will close by November 30. Early bird registration will be open only to returning NGL players from October 15 until October 31. Beginning November 1, registration will remain open and be open to the general public until November 30. Team sizes will be limited. We are able to offer only one team per age group. Please make a note of this earlier registration time on your calendar. We don’t want any NGL players to miss out.

NGL is always looking for volunteers to help out in a wide variety of functions. If you are interested in helping out as a coach, assistant, or joining the NGL board of directors, please contact Christine Shaw at [email protected]. Nashoba SEPAC presents on 504 plans
Nshoba SEPAVC presents “504 Plans: How to Make Them Work for Your Child”, on Tuesday, December 1, at 7pm at the Randall Library. This parent forum will be presented by Joseph Presti, Esq. of Baystate Advocacy Group. Mr. Presti will cover a wide range of topics, including: The legal differences between an IEP and  a 504 Plan; documentation you need to provide the school to get your child on a 504 Plan; what options you have if the TEAM recommends moving your child from an IEP to a 504 Plan; and how to work with your child’s educators to ensure his/her 504 Plan delivers the best results.
There will be time after the lecture for questions and open discussion. This lecture is free and open to the public.

Stow Girl Scouts Wants You to Join the Fun!
At Girl Scouts, big adventures and awesome friends always go together. Where else can you zip line through the trees, code your own app, run a cookie business, and so much more? For $25 per year, girls in grades K-12 can experience opportunities to have fun, try new things, and make memories with friends and family. The only tough decision will be which adventure to pick first!

Can’t wait to learn more? Attend our free Stow Girl Scout Registration event on Thursday, December 3, 6pm, at the Randasll Library, and become a member of the largest girl-led organization in the world. Guest Table Community Supper in Stow
All are welcome to a new community supper in Stow. Guest Table at FPC serves dinner from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the first Friday of each month at First Parish Church of Stow & Acton (FPC). The next community supper will take place on December 4. Guest Table welcomes everyone, in or out of Stow, whether they’re looking for a sense of community, are feeling lonely, are having some financial difficulties, or just want a change of atmosphere. There’s no charge for dinner, but donations are gratefully accepted. Dinners will be nut free, with gluten-free and dairy-free options available.

To enjoy this dining event, simply show up at FPC’s Fellowship Hall on the first Friday of the month at 5:30p.m. FPC is located at 353 Great Rd. Its facilities are wheelchair accessible. For more information contact [email protected].

On Saturday, December 5, the Stow Women’s Club will hold its 32nd annual Breakfast with Santa. This event will be held at St. Isidore Church, 429 Great Rd., from 9am-11am. Admission is $3 per person with a maximum of $12 per family.

This is a wonderful morning when families gather to enjoy a pancake breakfast and celebrate the season. It is also our organization’s major fundraiser for the year. The proceeds support a number of community organizations, including the Stow Food Pantry, Warm Hearts of Stow, and our local schools. Key attractions include photographs with Santa for a small fee, inexpensive items for children to purchase as holiday presents, and our popular Silent Auction.

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR COA HOLIDAY EVENT
On Wednesday, December 9, the Stow Council on Aging will attend a holiday storytelling event at the Amazing Things Arts Center in Framingham. Local storyteller Libby Franck, known for portraying historical characters, will tell holiday stories from long ago. The cost of this event is $8 for the van and admission. It is open to the public. Lunch afterward will be on your own at O’Connell’s Pub.

GIrl scouts Cradles to Crayons drive
Girl Scout Troop 72529 is conducting a donation drive of new or gently used items for Cradles to Crayons from now until December 10. There are donation boxes in the Hale and Center lobbies, or for dropoff contact [email protected]. Most needed items include baby, toddler and kids’ clothing, coats, new(unopened) socks & underwear, new hygiene items. Please no stuffed animals, DVDs, CDs, used board games, computer games, or electronics.

Stow Athletic & Recreation Supporters Inc. (STARS) will hold its First Annual Gingerbread House Decorating Event on December 12, 9:30am – 12:30pm, at the Hale Middle School Cafeteria. All ages are invited. The cost is $16 per house when ordered in advance (or $20 at door). STARS is a group of parents and other interested parties whose mission is to enrich our community by providing financial support for athletic and recreation programs. Stow Soccer Club Spring 2016 Registration is now opeN
Stow Soccer programs are available for pre-K age to 4th grade boys and girls. Registration will close for some programs on December 31 and late fees will be charged thereafter. Please register before December 31 to ensure your player’s spot on a team. Register online at www.stowsoccer.org.

OPEN HOUSE/REGISTRATION FOR NASHOBA PRESCHOOLS
The Nashoba Regional School District will be holding its 2016/2017 Open House/Registrations/Preschool Screenings for the Nashoba Integrated Preschools on Friday, January 15, 2016, from 12:30pm – 3pm. An appointment is required to attend. For an appointment with the Center School Preschool, contact Mary O’Brien at (978) 897-0290 x-6100.

We will also be scheduling screening for 3 and 4 year olds of Stow. Screenings can also be scheduled throughout the school year. This screening is a brief assessment of developmental milestones.
