November is the time when we remember those who have died. To mark this time, the Apple Valley Catholic Community of St. Isidore and St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parishes invites members of the Stow community to participate in a Remembrance Service on Friday, November 6, from 7:30–8:30pm, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington St. in Acton. The service will consist of music, scripture, prayer, and a time for all gathered to light a candle and say the name of their deceased loved ones. A New Community Supper in Stow
All are welcome to a new community supper in Stow. Guest Table at FPC will serve dinner from 5:30 to 6:30pm. on the first Friday of the month at First Parish Church of Stow & Acton (FPC) starting November 6. Guest Table welcomes everyone, in or out of Stow, whether they’re looking for a sense of community, are feeling lonely, are having some financial difficulties, or just want a change of atmosphere. There’s no charge for dinner, but donations are gratefully accepted. Dinners will be nut-free, with gluten-free and dairy-free options available.   Simply show up at FPC’s Fellowship Hall on the first Friday of the month, starting November 6 at 5:30pm. FPC is located at 353 Great Rd. Its facilities are wheelchair accessible. For more information contact [email protected].

FREE APPLE PICKING AT HONEY POT FOR STOW RESIDENTS
On Saturday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, Nov. 8, from 10am-5pm, STOW RESIDENTS (only) are invited to Honey Pot Hill Orchards, 138 Sudbury Rd., to pick apples for Free. You can bring your own bag or purchase one from the farm store for $1. Honey Pot Hill wants to thank the community for their support during the apple picking season.

Stow Area Parents Network (SAPN) Pre-K Event
Kids planning to start kindergarten next September will want to grab a caregiver and bring them to Color*Full in Acton on November 7, from 10am-2pm, for SAPN’s quarterly Pre-K Playgroup to meet their future classmates. We will have a project to do, snacks to eat, and friends to meet. This event is open to the public, so invite your fellow Pre-K friends.

Publishing Networking Group Meeting
The Publishing Networking Group’s next meeting will be Saturday, November 7, 10:30am, at the Randall Library. Our guest speaker will be Sarah Cressy from the Assabet Valley Chamber of Commerce, leading a discussion on marketing.

ANNUAL HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR
The Annual Holiday Craft Fair, sponsored by The Stow Friends of the Council on Aging, will be held on Saturday, November 14, from 9am to 3pm at St. Isidore Church, located at 429 Great Rd. You are invited to take advantage of the great holiday craft shopping provided by carefully selected crafters from the local area. There will be arts and crafts made by the seniors of Stow, along with a pottery making demonstration. There will be a baked goods table featuring wonderful breads, cakes and sweets, and home canned jellies and jams. Visit our used book table for the opportunity to get slightly used best sellers at a very good price. Hot dogs, corn chowder, and drinks will be on the lunch menu, as well as Dunkin’ Donuts coffee courtesy of  Stow Gulf Dunkin’ Donuts. We think there will be something for everyone and hope to see you there.

Stow Conservation Trust’s Annual Meeting
Stow Conservation Trust’s Annual Meeting will be held from 6 to 9pm on Saturday, November 14. Our guest speaker will be  Jeff Collins (Mass Audubon) on “Functioning Land: Conservation and Stewardship to Maintain Natural Processes”. Retro Jewelry and Gifts Sale
Saturday, November 14, the First Parish Church of Stow and Acton will be hosting a used jewelry sale, with some seasonal crafts and other hostess/holiday gifts available. The sale will run from 12noon to 3pm in the church Community Room (use the main entrance and follow signs). The church is located at 353 Great Rd. and is wheelchair accesible.

Dan Cloutier at New Revival Coffeehouse
Singer and songwriter Dan Cloutier will open the season at the New Revival Coffeehouse in Stow on Saturday, November 14. He’ll perform a collection of fast-paced folk anthems, sweet tremolo electric jams, quiet story songs, and more from his latest CD, “Blind Willie’s Lighthouse.” The coffeehouse is located at the wheelchair-accessible First Parish Church, 353 Great Rd., Stow. Doors open at 7pm and the concert begins at 7:30pm. Homemade desserts and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. Tickets are $15 in advance at BrownPaperTickets.com and $18 at the door.

Boy Scout Holiday Wreath Sale & Tree pickup Service
Stow’s Boy Scout Troop 1 has begun its annual wreath sale. The scouts will be making their way around town, but there are not enough scouts to visit all homes. So, you can also order wreaths by going online to www.troop1stow.net, printing out an order form and mailing your check with it to Troop 1 Stow, PO Box 75, Stow, MA 01775, or order directly online. Your wreaths will be delivered during Thanksgiving week. The small plain wreath is priced at $14 and the small decorated is $18. Medium wreaths are $17 plain and $20 decorated, and large plain wreaths are $50. Wreath payment is due by November 16.

The scouts will also be offering Christmas tree pickups at $10 per tree, and trees will be picked up at the end of your driveway January 15 and 16, 2016. Please make your tree pickup reservation by January 6 via website or mailed-in payment. The scouts will appreciate your order!

COLLECTABLE DOLL AND PLATE SALE
Over 50 collectable dolls and over 100 collectable plates will be for sale at bargain prices. These were donated from the estate of a collector. Most were purchased in the 80’s and 90’s and are still in original boxes with certificates and accessories. They are from Ashton Drake, Classic American, Elke Hutchins, Edwin Knowles, Regency, Franklin Mint, Hershey Kisses, Hamilton, Yolanda, Norman Rockwell, Danbury Mint, M.J.Hummel, and Bradford Exchange, to name a few. A lot of the plates are in sets. We must convert this collection to cash for the benefit of the Stow Seniors.  The sale is in the friendship room of the Council on Aging in the Stow Town Building, located at 380 Great Rd., on Saturday, November 21, from 9am to 3pm. OPEN HOUSE CAREER DAY AT MINUTEMAN HIGH SCHOOL
Minuteman High School will host its annual Open House Career Day on Sunday, November 22, from 1 to 4pm. This event is an excellent opportunity for prospective students to see how Minuteman gives them a significant competitive advantage though robust academics and real-world technical experience in each of 19 career programs. Students and their families will learn more about how a Minuteman education is ideal preparation for college and a variety of 21st-century professions. In addition, Minuteman’s students can participate in a full range of sports and extra-curricular activities. 9th Annual Stow Gobbler 5K Run/Walk
Would you like to work up an appetite this Thanksgiving while helping a good cause? Then consider running, walking, or volunteering in the 9th Annual Stow Gobbler 5K.   The race will take place this Thanksgiving morning (November 26), beginning at Stow Community Park and ending at Bose in Stow. Supported by Stow Recreation, this event will donate all proceeds to Habitat for Humanity and the Stow Community Chest. The race launches at 8am. Early check-in and race registration will be held from 3-5pm on Wednesday, November 25. OPEN TABLE MAYNARD IS ON THE MOVE
Open Table, which has served the greater Maynard community for 7 years, is moving to a new location. Beginning on Monday, November 9, we will be located on the first floor of the former Coolidge School, at 12 Bancroft St.   Open Table pantry serves an average of 100 families each week, providing them with meat, eggs, dairy products, fresh produce and baked goods in addition to package non-perishable food, and household items.  An all-volunteer organization, Open Table welcomes all comers to both the food pantry and to their community dinner, which is currently served at the Sudbury United Methodist Church on Route 27 on Tuesday evenings at 6pm.
