Over the past two weeks, Stow moved at a slower pace– except for the motorists. According to police, the last two months of the year saw 24 car accidents while 2011 closed out with 8 for that same time period. In fact, there were 114 accidents on the roads of Stow in 2012, while 2011 had just 89.  “When weather changes, we change,” said Stow police detective Steve Sturtevant.

Flynn Resigns from Randall Library
Children’s Librarian Denise Flynn submitted her resignation on December 18 after more than 16 years at Stow’s Randall Library- the last 8 months of which was mired in controversy over alleged difficulties between Flynn and the library’s Director who was hired in January 2012.

House Fire on West Acton Road

Firefighters beat down a structure fire at 77 West Acton Road around 3am Monday morning after wooden timbers inside a fireplace mantel caught fire and started burning within the walls of the home. After placing a call to 911, the young couple and child living there were outside when firefighters arrived. The family stayed with neighbors after the fire.

Take heart, the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge has a plan for most ages that won’t put you on a fiscal cliff, with few or no fees involved. But, do note that pets need to be left at home, so plan ahead.

At the MSTCA Freshman Sophomore Meet on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Nashoba had a great showing, with the girls team especially assuring that Nashoba’s remarkable success on the oval and in the field will continue for a long time.
