The Selectmen voted last night to support an Annual Town Meeting warrant article authorizing the purchase, or an option to purchase, an 8-acre property at 323 Great Road. They also agreed to determine if two parcels of land owned by the town could be deemed surplus, thus allowing for exploration of various uses, transfer of ownership to other interests in town, or eventual selling of the properties…

Past Tense: Susan Lawrence – Citizen of Stow

Susan Lawrence is best known as Stow’s first Randall Librarian, holding that position from 1892 to 1918.  According to an entry in the Crowell History of Stow, she was born in Carlisle, MA on Sept 29, 1846, the second of five children in the home of Elbridge and Hannah Proctor.  Susan attended school in Carlisle and later at Howe Academy at Billerica…
