The Independent Clause

It is time to Spring Forward this weekend! Daylight Saving Time begins at 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 10 and for those of you into long range planning, it ends at 2:00 AM on Sunday, November 3, 2013. Of course, all it means to me right now is that I’ll have an extra hour in the evening to see the sun glistening on the additional 8-12” of predicted snow. Woo. Hoo. I know, I know, the March sun is higher, warmer and the big melt should begin soon after the snow falls. Not soon enough, I tell ya.

But, we have plenty for you to read this week if you should happen to find yourself snowbound for a day (and even if you don’t).
Lew Halprin dug up a Library Commissioner’s Report from 1910 which is hysterical. When he showed it to current Library Director Melissa Fournier, he found she had the same document already framed and hung by her desk!  And for one example of just how far the library has come, Ann previews an upcoming program there that will include an author’s reading of her unique book and a craft project that will hang, when finished, in Emerson Hospital’s chemotherapy Infusion Room.

We also have several interesting profiles this week, including that of Stow florist Tony Tedesco, who was a founder of the Stow Garden Club and whose floral works and judging are nationally renowned.

Well, I have to head out now. Going to the store for Milk and Bread! Snow’s coming! MILK AND BREAD!
