The Independent Clause

Well, we’re back. Vacation sure does fly by. I don’t think we missed too much in town. Stow gets very quiet this time of year. As someone pointed out, you could actually pull out onto Rte 117 at 5pm without any problems this past week. That is vacation in itself!

We are continuing our Subscription Renewal drive and with that comes another weekly winner of $50 in gas cards. Congratulations to Carolyn and Jack Zettler!

We’re finding that the gas cards are really appreciated at this time of the year, with more traveling and especially with the recent climb in gas prices. All you have to do to enter is to renew your subscription (or get a new one if you don’t have one already!) and your name will stay in the “pot” until you win or until the contest ends. Please note that most subscriptions will expire at the end of August. When you renew, your subscription is extended for another year from the date it expires. So if you renew now and your subscription doesn’t expire until August 26, your renewal will extend your subscription to August 27, 2014.

The Planning Board has two meetings coming up- one informational and one interactive. Please see the information below to see how you can participate. Please note that the Town Meeting calendar may be updated, so please check the town website or specific departments regarding upcoming meetings.

We have a few articles this week on things to do here in Stow and in the local area over the next few weeks. And there’s more in the calendar on page 4. When it’s this hot, it’s tough to think, so we hope we can help give some ideas of ways to forget the heat! Of course, there’s always the Town Beach, too!

Hope you are staying cool however you can. Wasn’t it just freezing cold?? Well, I’ll take the heat over the cold, but I’d rather just a longer Spring and Fall!
