Run for the Woods Raises Funds for SCT

The annual road race to benefit the Stow Conservation Trust was once again a success despite  the unpredicatable weather of Springfest weekend.  The race was held Sunday, May 18 and attracted 155 finishers in the 5K and 48 in the Kids’ mile, according to race organizer Aims Coney. With the numbers showing about 100 fewer in the 5K than last year, Coney pointed to the increase in area road races on that day that may have detracted from the Stow event.  “There was  a new 5K in Hudson that attracted runners and walkers who might have come to our race.  The third Sunday in May is one of the biggest road race days of the year.  There were 33 running events listed in CoolRunning.com in Massachusetts on May 18th, 15 within 30 miles of Stow.  Stow residents were a higher percentage of the total than in the past, which would indicate the out-of-towners were elsewhere this year, “ said Coney.

Organizers estimated that roughly $3000 was raised to benefit the Stow Conservation Trust. Pictured above, the first place male and female winners: Patrick Nair and Etana Matatia, both of Stow.
