Thursday Nights are Cruise-in/Fly-in Nights This Summer in Stow
In cooperation with EAA #196, Friends of Minute Man Air Field, and Nancy’s Air Field Café, the Rotary Clubs of Nashoba Valley, Acton-Boxborough, and Maynard are holding the first annual Wings & Wheels program, a summer-long cruise-in/fly-in event at the Minute Man Air Field (302 Boxboro Road) in Stow, MA. The event will run on Thursday nights from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for 12 weeks, June 6 through August 29 (except July 4).   Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5 per person. SWC Walk for Breast Cancer
The Stow Women’s Club will be holding its third annual “SWC Walk for Breast Cancer” on Saturday June 8th (rain date Sat June 15th). The walk will start at9 AM at the Old Stow Town Hall and end at Main Street Café in Concord Center.  The event is to raise funds for the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund with every penny raised going  directly to breast cancer research at Massachusetts General Hospital.   If you would like to sponsor a Stow Women’s Club member or make a contribution, please contact Teri Anapol at 978-897-6406 or send a check made out to ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund to Stow Women’s Club, PO Box 413, Stow, MA 01773.

Young Eagles Flight Rally Scheduled For Saturday, June 8

All those between ages 8-17 will have a chance to take to the skies on Saturday, June 8, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, as EAA Chapter 196 celebrates International Young Eagles day with a flight rally at Minute Man Airfield, 302 Boxboro Road, Stow. Pilots at the event will also explain more about their airplanes, allowing young people to discover how airplanes work and how pilots ensure safety is the prime concern before every flight. Recycled Books Crafts for Ages 8-18
Come make recycled book crafts at the Randall Library on Saturday, June 8 at 10:30am, or Tuesday, June 18th at 4:30pm. Join us to recycle books by making them into fun crafts! Make a book hedgehog, or a placemat, and enjoy snacks in our upstairs craft room. Kids welcome ages 8-18. Contact Martha, the Youth Services Librarian with any questions.

The New Revival Coffeehouse Presents The Boxcar Lilies
The Boxcar Lilies is a modern folk trio known for their superb songwriting and innovative harmonies.  They accompany themselves on guitar, clawhammer banjo, concert ukele, electric bass and washboard.  They’ll be playing at the New Revival Coffeehouse on Saturday, June 8th at First Parish Church of Stow and Acton, 353 Great Road.  All are welcome.  Doors open at 7:30 pm and the show starts at 8 pm.  Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door.  For advanced tickets or more information email [email protected] or call 978-274-2593. Sunday June 9th is Annual Children’s Sunday at Union Church
This is the day we celebrate our children and their teachers.  The children will be participating in the service.  Following this service, everyone is invited to go to Stow Community Park on Old Bolton Road for coffee and fellowship.  This is instead of our regular coffee hour.  Coffee and goodies will be provided, or you can bring your own picnic lunch.  We have the pavilion reserved until 1PM.  All are welcome at  our Children’s Sunday Service at 9:30AM June 9th at the Union Church of Stow (with the blue doors) at 317 Great Road.
Oral History at West School Museum Sunday, June 9

The World War II ammunition depot (now the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge), Stow’s evolution from farming community to residential suburb and the town’s Council on Aging will be three areas of focus during “An Evening of Oral History” at Stow’s West School Museum at 7 pm on Sunday, June 9.   Free and open to all, the program is jointly sponsored by the Stow Historical Society and the Stow Historical Commission. I’m Not Finished Yet!  A Retrospective of 40 Years of Artwork.

In celebrating her 80th birthday,  Stow Artist Judith Jaffe Halprin decided to organize the artwork she has created over the years. She will present  “I’m Not Finished Yet” an overview of 40 years of her artwork that can be seen at: Artspace Gallery, 63 Summer Street, Maynard, June 15 – July 13. Decibels Foundation’s  11th Annual Golf Tournament

SYBA (Stow Youth Basketball Association) – Annual Meeting
On Tuesday, June 18, 2013, SYBA will be holding its Annual Meeting at the Randall Library from 7pm-9pm.  We welcome any newcomers to join us.  If your kids are part of the Bomber’s Program or played on a Stow Recreation Basketball team this year, this is a great opportunity to get involved and help to continue to run these successful programs (which are all volunteer based).  Come support the great sport of basketball here in Stow.

New Book Club Meeting
The next meeting of the New Book Club will be at 7PM, Tuesday, June18 at the library.
Our read for this month is The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley.  This is the world Flavia Sabina de Luce who is an 11 year old delightfully nasty piece of work.
