scottish dancing in stow
The Stow class of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society will take place on Friday, December 11, at  Stow Town Hall with live music.  Scottish Country Dancing is the much older version of our Contra Dancing and is quite social. Partners are not needed. Soft-soled shoes are recommended. There will be a Children’s Class and an Adult/Teen Beginner’s Class beginning at 7pm. Social Dancing begins at 8pm. All are welcome to join this enjoyable and social dance form. Please join us.

gingerbread house decorating at Hale
Stow Athletic & Recreation Supporters Inc. (STARS) will hold its First Annual Gingerbread House Decorating Event on December 12, 9:30am – 12:30pm, at the Hale Middle School Cafeteria. All ages are invited. The cost is $16 per house when ordered in advance (or $20 at door). STARS is a group of parents and other interested parties whose mission is to enrich our community by providing financial support for athletic and recreation programs. Winter Solstice Concert with Roger Tincknell, Thursday, December 17, 6pm – Join us for a warm evening at the library on a cold winter night for a festive musical program, including seasonal sing-a-longs and songs from winter celebrations from around the world and across cultures. This is a wonderful program for the whole family to enjoy. Refreshments will be served.

Jeff Czekaj, Wednesday, December 30, 2pm – Join children’s book author and illustrator Jef Czekaj for a jam-packed afternoon full of reading, rapping, and drawing. Jef will read and rap from his books, draw with participants, and talk about his life as an author and illustrator. He may also dress like a cat.

holiday serVICEs AT FIRST PARISH CHURCH
The First Parish Church of Stow & Acton (FPC) invites all to celebrate Hanukkah at its Sunday, December 13 services at 9 and 11am. On this 7th day of Hanukkah, Rev. Tom Rosiello will tell the story of the Maccabee people, who never lost hope that they could overcome those who oppressed them and tried to take their culture away.

Also on December 13, at 5pm, FPC, will hold a Christmas Vesper Service. It will include a string quartet prelude and Christmas Oratorio by Camille Saint-Saëns, sung by the First Parish Church Adult Choir with professional soloists, string quartet, organ, and piano.

ukulele holiday
Holiday Ukulele Players Meet-up on Wednesday, December 16, 6:45 – 9pm, at First Parish Church (353 Great Rd.). Come join us and and play with other ukulele fans from around the area. All levels of players are welcome. Just bring your uke and stand if you have one. Stow Soccer Club Spring 2016 Registration
Stow Soccer programs are available for pre-K age to 4th grade boys and girls. Registration will close for some programs on December 31 and late fees will be charged thereafter. Please register before December 31 to ensure your player’s spot on a team. Register online at www.stowsoccer.org.

OPEN HOUSE/REGISTRATION FOR NASHOBA PRESCHOOLS
The Nashoba Regional School District will be holding its 2016/2017 Open House/Registrations/Preschool Screenings for the Nashoba Integrated Preschools on Friday, January 15, from 12:30pm – 3pm. An appointment is required to attend. For an appointment with the Center School Preschool, contact Mary O’Brien at (978) 897-0290 x-6100. We will also be scheduling screening for 3 and 4 year olds of Stow. Screenings can also be scheduled throughout the school year. This screening is a brief assessment of developmental milestones.
