“Herstory New England”- Remarkable New England Women- Thursday, March 20, 7pm- In celebration of National Women’s History month, Roger Kolb will be at the Randall Library to present his audio-visual lecture about the extraordinary women of New England who have helped shape the institutions, values, and image or our country.
Author Talk, Thursday, March 27,  7pm- Author Richard Johnson, curator of the Sports Museum at TD Garden, will present details about the history of Fenway Park and his book “Field of Our Fathers: An Illustrated History of Fenway Park 1912-2012”. Join us for a fascinating evening as sports fans prepare for another exciting baseball season.
STOW GARDEN CLUB
The Stow Garden Club will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, March 12, at 7pm, at the Union Church in Stow. Barbara Rietscha from Stow Greenhouses will discuss the different types of lilies and other plants grown at the Greenhouse. The Stow Garden Club meets monthly, and we invite anyone interested in gardening topics to attend the March meeting. Refreshments will be served. “IN PRAISE OF WHAT RISES,” A VESPER SERVICE
On Thursday, March 13 at 6:45pm, The First Parish Church of Stow and Acton will celebrate Spring with music, candle light, and readings There will be a time for silent meditation and the opportunity to share your feelings on the approaching season, as well as reading a favorite poem about Spring. Our vesper service will be led by The Rev. Tom Rosiello. This 45-minute service is the perfect way to end the day. All are welcome. The church is located at 353 Great Rd. in Stow, at the intersection of Routes 117 and 62.  Our facilities are wheelchair accessible. Tickets on Sale Now for “Les Misérables School Edition”
The Nashoba Drama Society proudly announces its Spring Musical, “Les Misérables School Edition”. Performances are March 14 and 15 at 7:30pm and March 16 at 2pm at NRHS, 12 Green Road, Bolton. Ticket prices are $14 adults and $10 seniors/students. SCOTTISH DANCING AT TOWN HALL
The Stow class of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society will take place on Friday, March 14 at the Stow Town Hall. Scottish Country Dancing is the much older version of our Contra Dancing and is quite social. Partners are not needed.  Soft-soled shoes are recommended. There will be a Children’s Class beginning at 7pm and an Adult/Teen Beginner’s Class at 7:30pm.  Social Dancing begins at 8pm. All are welcome to join this enjoyable and social dance form.
12th Annual Arts Buffet Festival
The Stow PTO’s 12th Annual Arts Buffet Festival is coming!  Please mark your calendars for a fun day of kids’ arts and crafts, musical performances, and an elementary school art show on Saturday, March 15, from 11am -2pm in The Center School gym. Pizza, baked goods, and snacks will be available for purchase. We have numerous arts and craft projects planned, covering an array of mediums. Admission is $6 per artist, with a family cap of $24.  If financial hardship would discourage you from attending, please see Center School Nurse Donna Linstrom for complimentary admission.
We need an army of volunteers to run the Arts Buffet safely and successfully. Please consider volunteering for set-up on Friday, March 14, a shift during the event on the 15th, or clean-up. SOLAR OPEN HOUSE – MARCH 15
An Open House will be held from 12noon to 4pm (note change of time) on Saturday, March 15, at the home of Carl Howe, 27 Birch Hill Rd., Stow, for local residents and businesses interested in learning about the Stow Solar Challenge and solar energy in general.  Carl will answer questions about his recently installed solar system, and the benefits and process of going solar. A representative from Stow Solar Challenge installer New England Clean Energy will be available to answer questions and provide online assessments of residential and commercial roofs. FINDING YOURSELF IN COMMUNITY
On Sunday, March 16, at 9am and 11am, the First Parish Church of Stow and Acton welcomes everyone to consider the role of community and how interacting with others helps us learn about ourselves. Both services will include new member and child dediction ceremonies. New Book Club Meeting
The meeting of the New Book Club will be on Tuesday March 18 at 7pm at the library.   Jan and Feb 18 meetings were both cancelled because of weather.  The third time is a charm (we hope).  We will discuss “The Greater Journey, Americans in Paris”, by David McCullough and “Sister Carrie” by Theodore Dreiser.  Sister Carrie, first published in 1900, is considered an American classic. As an 18 year old living in Wisconsin, Carrie moves to Chicago and her transition begins. Explore with us how this story may be rewritten with any generation.  How does her story compare with yours?  Join us for a casual and inclusive hour to find our how history (in both books) can be exciting and instructive!  Questions–call 978-897-6055.
BOYS YOUTH LACROSSE PRE-SEASON CLINIC
The Nashoba Regional High School Boys Lacrosse team is holding its first annual pre-season youth clinic.  The clinic will be held Sunday, March 23 (U9/U11 6-7:30pm / U13/U15 7:30-9:00PM) indoors @ Forekicks Sports Complex in Marlborough and costs $25.  For full details and to register please see the flyer on the NRHS Athletic website.  Any questions should be emailed to Coach McNamara at [email protected].
Nashoba EMS CPR Marathon
Starting at 5 pm on Friday, March 28th, members of the Nashoba EMT program will be doing 24 non-stop hours of CPR. Come join us for various activities, such as relay races and heart health games for kids, heart health education, vital sign checks, or a tour of the ambulance and fire trucks (10 am-12 pm on the 29th) while supporting a great cause. Raffles will also be taking place, and all proceeds and donations go to our Pierino Bonazzoli Nashoba EMS Scholarship fund. The marathon will be taking place at Nashoba Regional High School, and visitors are welcome from 5 pm-9 pm on the 28th, and 9 am-5 pm on the 29th. Hope to see you all there!
SCT’s Run For The Woods Poster Contest
Artists between the age of 5 and 14 are invited to submit a drawing to be used for the promotional poster for Stow Conservation Trust’s Run for the Woods.  The poster should combine SCT’s mission, “To lead in the preservation of Stow’s open land and natural and scenic resources”, with the fun of running.  The winning poster will be hung throughout Stow and adjoining towns.  The artist will receive a gift certificate that can be applied to art classes (value $60) at Silk and Clay Studio at ArtSpace Maynard. 6th Annual Stow Town Cleanup Scheduled for April 5
The snow will melt, and when it does, litter will reappear along the roads of Stow. Help us pick it up on Saturday, April 5, during the 6th annual Stow Town Cleanup.
Sign up for your cleanup area on the town map at the Lower Common near Papa Gino’s on Saturday, April 5, from 8 a.m. to noon. The Stow Cleanup Group will have garbage bags and gloves (adult sizes) available at no cost.
Though our April date should help us avoid poison ivy, participants should wear gloves, long pants and sleeves, and bright clothes or a reflective vest. Bags can be tossed in your own trash can or left by the side of the road. The Town Highway Department will pick up bags on Monday.For more information, go to www.stowcleanup.wordpress.com.
ED MORGAN SING ALONG
Ed Morgan, a Stow resident and children’s singer/songwriter, brings a series of interactive children’s Sing Alongs to the Community Room at the Randall Library. The next show is Saturday, April 5, at 10:30am. (The series is funded by a grant from the Stow Cultural Council.) Ed Morgan is better known in greater Boston simply as “The Music Man”. For over 10 years he has delighted kids and grown ups alike with his interactive blend of original and traditional children’s songs…Singing and dancing for kids ages 1 to 99!

Open mic opportunity for teen musicians on Saturday, March 29, 2014 7:00 P.M. at the United Church of Christ Boxborough, 723 Mass. Ave. Boxborough.  This is a benefit coffeehouse, hosted by The Coffeehouse Trio (Jared Wilber and Sam Griffin of Stow), and proceeds benefit this summer’s Senior High Youth Group Mission Trip.  Any performers under 18 welcome to try out their material in front of a friendly, supportive audience.
