Coffee. I love everything about it. The taste, the smell, the whole experience. And I’m not talking about the fake coffees- the mocha java coconut butter goldenrod spinach souffle gourmando supremo with three specks of nutmeg (NOT FOUR) and a splash of goat’s milk. I’m talking about real honest-to-goodness coffee from real coffee beans with no additives. There’s only one problem. I find, now that I’m on the downhill side of life, I can’t take the caffeine like I used to. And since I prefer dark, strong coffee, my body starts to complain when I go overboard. I have found several really good decaffeinated coffees, but psychologically, I know the difference. I feel like I’m cheating on my regular coffee and have to apologize. But every once in awhile, especially on a Tuesday when there are night meetings and I know I’ll be up particularly late, like tonight, I sneak in a regular coffee at 3pm. Yep, I’m living on the edge today. I may not get to sleep til 6AM, but boy was that a good cup.
As many gear up for the holiday rush, there are a few worthy and fun causes to mention. The Warm Hearts of Stow Holiday Toy Fund is still accepting monetary donations to purchase specific gifts on their list for families in need. We heard from co-cordinator Susan Holmes this week that there has been an increase in the number of families they are serving this year and increased donations will help them provide the additional gifts. Holidays for High Schoolers, which focuses on older kids, is also still accepting donations to make sure that age group is not left out.
And the Stow Fire Department is holding their Annual Santa Day. Santa will be touring Stow on a fire truck on Saturday, December 15. The full schedule of stops can be found on page 7.
More holiday events and religious services can be found on pages 4 and 5.
