Nashoba Graceful, Poised in State Final Loss

We all root for the team that works hard and commits to long hours at practice to improve, but they don’t always win in the end. When the Central Mass D2 champion Nashoba Chieftains girls’ basketball team met Southern Mass D2 winner Medfield in the State championship on Saturday at the DCU Center, the outcome wasn’t what the Chieftains wanted.
Shortly after Erin Cressman put the first points on the scoreboard for Nashoba, the Medfield Warriors began their attack, taking the lead with a nifty three-pointer and never looking back. Despite relentless pressure by Nashoba, Medfield pulled away 11 points at the half, going on a five point run in the final minute.
Stepping into Spring with the Garden Club

Tuesday’s cold slop likely made many folks yearn for the warm weather to arrive, bringing with it the opportunity to get back into the garden. The Stow Garden Club was a step ahead of this demand last Thursday, hosting a public presentation at Town Hall on this year’s trends in gardening.
About 20 gardeners and hopefuls listened to Stow resident John Link, a tree and shrub buyer at Russell’s Garden Center in Wayland, talk about what’s trending in Native American plants this year, peppered with advice on how to protect these plants around the yard.
Nashoba Panel Talks School Safety

Newtown and Columbine have become places all too familiar in many parents’ minds. Protecting children from incidents like the school shootings these towns experienced has become a very visible priority for law enforcement everywhere.
Last Wednesday, the Nashoba District hosted a public forum at Bolton’s Florence Sawyer School to discuss how administration is working with law enforcement to keep students safe, and how district families can help. The discussion panel, put together by the district, included school administrators and law enforcement from Bolton and Lancaster. Stow school administration did not attend, but answered questions in separate discussions.
