Eye of the Storm is a horse rescue that has become sanctuary to many completely unplaceable horses. Our mission is to educate the public on all equine issues in this country, especially the plight of the unwanted horse. We are funded completely by public donation. We need your help. Our 15 horses represent the thousands of unwanted horses in this country. Those thousands are typically slaughtered for pet food or human consumption. This will never happen to our  horses. They will spend their lives here at Eye of the Storm to be spoiled by the young girls who volunteer their time to care for them. All profits from this event will go directly to their life long care and our continuing education work. Please join us.  $20 at the door. Check out our website at www.equine-rescue.com
Mark Twain at West School
You’re invited to see American author and humorist Mark Twain at Stow’s West School Museum on Sunday, September 23. Actually, actor and Mark Twain interpreter Bern Budd will present a one-man show the based on the great American author’s life. Free and open to all interested persons, the 3 pm program is jointly sponsored by the Stow Historical Society and the Stow Historical Commission.
Budd’s “The Hannibal Years” program is based on Twain’s life growing up on the banks of the Mississippi River and stories about the real life characters behind Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. As Twain put it, “This is my tale – and some of it is true.” Fittingly for the West School setting, he’ll also talk about the author’s education in the 1830s and ‘40s. The production is geared for ages 10 to 100, but Budd has found that younger children do seem to enjoy the show even if they do not understand it all.
Stow West School Museum programs are supported in part by a grant from the Stow Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
