Stow Area Parents Network Fall Pre-Kindergarten Playgroup
Is your child going to be in kindergarten in the Fall of 2013? SAPN invites all Stow children (and their caregivers) who plan to enter kindergarten next year to come and meet future classmates at the first Pre-K Playgroup of the year! You do not need to be a member of SAPN to join in the fun. Our first event will be at the Massachusetts Gymnastics Center at 31A Union Ave, Sudbury at 3PM at Friday, November 16th. Join us for an hour of tumbling, jumping, and having fun, followed by ice cream at Friendly’s. Due to limited space, we won’t be able to accommodate siblings at this particular event. Preschool Music Time at Randall Library
Thursday, November 15, 2012, 10:30-11:30 at the Randall Library in Stow-Preschool Music Time with the Franklin School!! Star Watch at the Stow Minuteman Airport
The Skylight Astronomical Society is hosting a Star Watch at the Stow Minuteman Airport, Saturday, 17th November after dusk until 9:00 pm. Club members will provide guests spectacular views through their telescopes. Come see the original terminator, Jupiter, far away galaxies and intriguing cosmic phenomena. Look out for the Leonid meteor shower which peaks at roughly one every four minutes. The falling stars are sand-sized debris from the Comet Temple-Tuttle flyby in 1533. On Sunday, November 18th at 9 and 11 AM, the First Parish Church of Stow and Acton will hold an inter-generational service to give thanks. We will sing traditional Thanksgiving hymns and be treated to a bounty of beautiful music from our FPC choirs and musicians of all ages. The service will be led by our minister, Tom Rosiello, assisted by our music team, our Director of Religious Education and our Student Minister, as well as children and youth. The service will include the traditional ritual of breaking and sharing of bread, baked for us by the Junior Youth Group. Please bring non-perishable food and toiletries to the service to be donated to the Stow Food Pantry. All ages are welcome and the facility is wheelchair accessible. Sounds of Stow Chorus and Orchestra Fall Concert This Sunday
The Fall Concert will feature works by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Soloists for these pieces are baritone Mark Andrew Cleveland and soprano Jane Shivick. We will also feature the orchestra in a premier of our first commissioned piece – Classical Concerto, composed and performed by the highly gifted pianist Keane Southard. The concert is Sunday, November 18 at 3:00 PM in Hale School auditorium, 55 Hartley Rd, in Stow (junction of Rte.117/62). Tickets are $25 general admission and $20 for seniors and students.

6th Annual Stow Gobbler 5K Run/Walk
The 6th Annual Stow Gobbler 5K race will take place this Thanksgiving morning (November 22nd at 8AM), beginning at Stow Community Park and ending at Bose in Stow. Supported by Stow Recreation, this event will donate all proceeds to Habitat for Humanity and the Stow Community Chest. Register by November 1st and receive a free t-shirt! Early check-in and race registration will be held from 2-4 pm on November 21st. Registration can also be done at 6:30am on race day. Stow Lions Club Annual Christmas Tree Sale
Thanks to Linear Retail and KeyPoint Partners of Burlington, we are back at our usual spot in the Shopping Plaza at 115 Great Road (Route 117) Stow. The Stow Lions Christmas tree stand will be set up on November 17th and we will be open for business on Friday morning November 23rd the day after Thanksgiving. The tree stand hours on Opening Day Friday November 23, are from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. On the weekends, we will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. And during the week, Monday thru Friday evenings, we will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
These Christmas trees are shipped from a tree farm in Wallagrass Maine directly to us. And as always, there will be a wide variety of sizes and shapes on hand. This year a (6’ to 8’) Balsam Fir tree will cost $40.00, and a 6’ Fraser Fir tree will cost $45.00.

Proceeds for the sale go back to the community through the many activities and projects that the club supports.
Lower Village Public Forum
November 28, 2012 at 7:30 PM – Stow Town Hall. Join the Stow Planning Board for an informative presentation on the past, present and future of Lower Village. If you have been wondering what has been going on in Lower Village; why the temporary traffic islands are still in place or how efforts to revitalize the village can move forward, this meeting will be an opportunity to learn about upcoming work and offer feedback on planning direction. Refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there!
Stow Women’s Club Sponsors 29th Annual Breakfast with Santa
The Stow Women’s Club is sponsoring its 29th annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 8, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at St. Isidore’s Church in Stow, MA. Admission is $3 per person with a maximum of $12 per family. Admission includes a breakfast of pancakes, ham, coffee, and juice. This delightful event will feature photographs with Santa Claus for a small fee, a White Elephant table with inexpensive items for children to purchase as holiday presents, and a Silent Auction. It will also include a children’s craft table. This is the Stow Women’s Club primary fund raiser for the year. Proceeds fund a high school scholarship and benefit local community organizations and Stow schools. Last year’s Breakfast with Santa raised about $3,500.
Author Ali Hosseini at Randall Library
Tuesday, December 11, 2012, 6:00pm- Author Ali Hosseini will appear at the Randall Library to read from his novel The Lemon Grove and discuss his inspirations for the novel. The novel, which has received outstanding reviews from trade publications such as Publishers Weekly, follows the lives of two identical twin brothers, Ruzbh and Behruz and their lives in Iran. Mr Hosseini was recently featured in an Oct 10th edition of the Metro West Daily and we are proud to welcome him to the Randall Library. Books will be available for sale and signing.
