On Saturday, December 1, the Maynard Police Department arrested Robert M. Redfield, 21, of 113 Dawn Road, Maynard and Joseph W. Redfield, 26, of 135 Main Street, Apt #1, Maynard as the result of an ongoing investigation involving multiple motor vehicle breaks. Police are now looking for assistance in identifying some of the property recovered.
Joseph Redfield had been arrested by Stow Police in October after being seen breaking and entering into a parked car on Crescent Street. After his arraignment in Concord District Court at that time, he was held briefly and then released due to overcrowding in the Middlesex County jail in Cambridge. He and his brother are also suspected of other car and house breaks in Stow, according to Stow Police Detective Mike Sallese.
Maynard Police Officer Brian Cushing had been investigating a rash of motor vehicle breaks and larceny of property in that town going back to July. Maynard Police investigated over forty car breaks since that time and the Redfield brothers are believed to be responsible, according to statements issues by the Maynard Police Department. The items stolen from these breaks include cash; electronic items such as iPods, laptops, and GPS devices; along with personal items.
The arrests and subsequent search warrants resulted in Maynard Police recovering multiple stolen items that Maynard Police are hoping to return to their owners. There are currently many items for which owners are not currently identified. Maynard Police are asking residents who have had personal property stolen in a home or vehicle break-in in Maynard or Stow, to please contact the Maynard Police Department.
Robert Redfield was arraigned on Monday in Concord District Court on several counts of Receiving Stolen Property over $250 and Conspiracy and was held on $1,000 bail.
Joseph Redfield was also arraigned in Concord District Court on several counts of Receiving Stolen Property over $250 (Subsequent offense), Conspiracy, and Possession of Ammunition without a FID card. He was also held on $1,000 bail.
As of Tuesday evening, neither individual had posted bail and both were still incarcerated in the Middlesex County Jail.
