Girls Tennis Expands Program

The Nashoba girls’ tennis team is expanding – growing from eight players to twelve, from three courts to five. Another area where they want to expand: in the record books by forging deeper into the playoffs.
The season started with the Chieftains channeling energy from their new courts into wins. The girls started off the year with a 5-0 win home over Algonquin, followed by a 4-1 victory at Wachusett. Then the team ran into some trouble, losing to Shrewsbury 4-1 and Westborough 4-1.
Needle at Large: Mr. Nashoba

Unless you live in reality TV, the world isn’t much for beauty pageants anymore. But don’t tell that to the young men of Nashoba Regional High School. As Friday night’s annual Mr. Nashoba Pageant proved, shirtless sells.
Sponsored by the NRHS Student Council, the pageant was launched a few years back to raise money for the SC’s activities. This year, it was also announced by pageant emcee, Psychology Teacher Bob Griffith, that half the cash earned would be split between the two scholarship funds founded in memory of former Nashoba students Will Hurley of Stow, and Lancaster’s Alison Murphy.
Markey and Gomez Win State and Stow

The State Primary Election, held on Tuesday in conjunction with the Annual Town Election, saw 1831 voters cast their ballots, according to the unofficial results from the Stow Town Clerk’s office. Stow’s two precincts, representing the north and south regions of town, cast nearly identical votes for all the candidates across the board.
The town’s choice for United States Senator mirrored the state’s choice with Democrat Edward Markey winning Stow with 495 votes and Gabriel Gomez earning the Stow Republican nod with 167 votes.
