Fitness Dance Class to Benefit Multiple Sclerosis Research
Global Fitness Center’s GROUP GROOVE instructor, Missy Argiro, is hosting a fun-filled 1-hour fitness dance class to benefit Multiple Sclerosis Research on Friday, May 17th at 7:45pm. Dress up from your favorite decade and come move with Missy to an assortment of Oldies’ Music. A prize will be awarded to the best costume!
This event is open to all members and non-members and is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels, but space is limited with a $25 registration fee. 100% of the registration fee from the GROUP GROOVE event will go to MS Research. Car Wash & Bake Sale for Nashoba Classes
The Nashoba Class of 2015 and Class of 2016 will be holding a car wash / bake sale at the Nashoba High on May 18th from 10-2. A car wash is $5 and there will be food to purchase while one waits. The profits of this fundraiser will go towards lowering the cost of prom tickets, senior banquet and other events to make our high school experience memorable.
Open SpringFest with a Laugh, Friday, 7:00 PM, Old Town Hall
Join your fellow townspeople for a lot of fun, laughter, and free popcorn at the Old Town Hall this Friday and enjoy the Harold Lloyd silent movie comedy “Hot Water”. Doors open on Friday Night, May 17 at 6:30 PM. The movie activity starts promptly at 7:00 when our featured silent film pianist Richard Hughes will play some ragtime music to warm us up and get us in the mood, tell us some background about the film, and then start the laughing by showing the movie.
“Hot Water” is one of the funniest movies Harold Lloyd has produced. Everything that could go wrong does with one funny situation after another, including a ride on a crowded trolley with a live turkey, a trip in a new auto, and lots more.
Bring your kids and be a family that laughs together. The Stow Lions are your hosts for the evening and there is no charge for admission or for the popcorn.
SpringFest 2013
This years’ Festival will be held on Saturday, May 18th at the Stow Community Park.
It will be a day filled with fun for all Stow residents offering several inflatables, free popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones. Come see Animal Adventures, get an airbrush tattoo and enter a new event called the “duck drop.” Come listen to wonderful music and have lunch. Watch demonstrations, check out vendors wares and see friends and neighbors.
“Going Into Spring” Children’s Parade at SpringFest
Children of all ages are welcome to take part in a children’s’ Parade sponsored by the Stow Lions Club. The theme is “Going into Spring”. Help kick off Saturday’s SpringFest event by marching around Stow Community Park. Participants are encouraged to wear a “Going into Spring” costume. All participants will receive a special Lions Club badge.
The parade will start at the Lions Club food truck on Saturday, May 18 at 10:15 a.m.

SpringFest LEGO Contest
Attention all LEGO fans, young and old! The theme for this year’s SpringFest LEGO Contest is “Summer Fun.” Create a scene or object to represent Summer Fun. Let your imagination and creativity be the guide. There will be a preschool division where parents are allowed to provide some guidance, a middle school division for students in grades 6-8, and separate winners for each grade, kindergarten through fifth grade. High School students and adults are welcome to compete as well in their own division – no prizes will be awarded, but you can bask in the admiration of the younger LEGO creators. There will also be a “Kids Choice” Winner voted on by the contestants in grades Pre-K through 8th. Please remember, NO KITS allowed — you can use parts from a kit, but your entry should be based on your imagination. Parents are asked to only provide assistance with preschool LEGO entries. Drop off is on May 18th from 9:30-10:30am at the Basketball Courts at Stow Community Park and judging will begin at 10:45 am. All projects must be picked up by 1:30 pm. Please note, parking for SpringFest is at BOSE. You will need to walk your LEGO contest entry to Stow Community Park. You may wish to transport your LEGO creation in a box to protect your hard work. Pancake Breakfast
The Stow Friends of the Council on Aging invite you to come to our annual Pancake Breakfast to be served at St. Isidore’s Parish Hall onSaturday, May 18, from 8 AM to 11AM. RAIN or SHINE. This as a great way to kickoff your SpringFest day. Bring the whole family and enjoy a great breakfast with your friends. Where else can you get pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs and help the Seniors of Stow. Coffee will be provided by The Gulf Station Dunkin’ Donuts. Come and enjoy The Assabet Valley Chambersingers who will begin to perform at 10 AM. Randall Library SpringFest Weekend Events
The Randall Library Friends Association Annual Book Sale, Saturday, May 18th 11:00-5:00 and Sunday, May 19th 11:00-2:00-During SpringFest the Randall Library in Stow will be hosting an annual used book sale. Come browse thru hundreds of adult, children’s and young adult books (both paperback and hardcover) CDs (music and books on CD) and DVDs all in great shape and at great prices. Proceeds of the sale will go to the Randall Library Friends Association to promote special services at the Randall Library.
KISPS Photo Show at the Randall Library May 18th, 10:00am-5:00pm and May 19th, 11:00am-2:00pm-“Keep it Simple” photography group will be having a viewing and sale at the library. The photographs will be on display on the second floor of the library.
Stow Historical Society tour of the Historical Objects in the Randall Library, Saturday, May 18th 10:00-2:00. Ralph Fuller and other members of the Stow Historical Society will be on hand at the Randall Library during SpringFest to give tours and speak about some of the fascinating objects in the Randall Library of historical significance to the town.

The Stow Conservation Trust & Stow Area Parents Network are teaming up again to hold our SpringFest Tot Run for the Woods! So many parents participate in the SCT Run for the Woods each year, what better way to share your love of running with your children than to let them run themselves? Sounds of Stow SpringFest Concert Sunday, May 19, 4PM
Join us in the First Parish Church of Stow at 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 19 for a very special Sounds of Stow Spring Concert! American choral icon Alice Parker will lead a combined chorus of 100 singers in selections of her arrangements of folk songs, spirituals, hymns and her own compositions. The concert will also include a community sing under her inimitable leadership.
Stow’s SpringFest Concert is a unique musical event that has continued for more than three decades. This is community music-making in the best sense of the word. This year, the audience will participate in making the music. Admission is $10.00.

First Parish Church Returns to 10am Service Time
Beginning Sunday, May 19th, the First Parish Church of Stow and Acton will return to a 10 am service time schedule. Our two service (9 am and 11 am) schedule will resume in September. First Parish is a Welcoming Unitarian Universalist Congregation located at 353 Great Road in the center of Stow (at the intersection of Rts. 117 & 62, next to the Randall Library). New Book Club

NRHS Final Choral Concert
On Thursday May 23rd at 7PM, Susan Mianulli the NRHS Choral Director will showcase the talents of the Nashoba Choral Groups. The show is always a magical night with many solos and enchanting ballads for your pleasure. The show starts at 7:00 in the NRHS Auditorium, and costs $5, with students and seniors free.
SAPN Pre-Kindergarten Pizza Party
Is your child entering kindergarten in September 2013? Please join future classmates and their caregivers at the Stow Area Parents Network’s Pre-K Pizza Party at Stow Community Park on Friday, May 31 from 3:30-5pm. The group will be under the pavilion with food and drinks, while the kids play on the playgroup, shoot some hoops, or ride their bikes along the path. Golf Tournament Fundraiser
The Nashoba Chieftains Football team is holding the 13th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser on June 2, 2013 at Stow Acres Country Club. All proceeds will benefit the NRHS Chieftains football program. Shot gun start at 1:30 pm with a check in at 12 noon. Dinner included in the fee at 6pm. Cost to play: Individual golfers $120, Foursome $480. Dinner only option $35. Thursday Nights are Cruise-in/Fly-in Nights This Summer in Stow
In cooperation with EAA #196, Friends of Minute Man Air Field, and Nancy’s Air Field Café, the Rotary Clubs of Nashoba Valley, Acton-Boxborough, and Maynard are holding the first annual Wings & Wheels program, a summer-long cruise-in/fly-in event at the Minute Man Air Field (302 Boxboro Road) in Stow, MA. The event will run on Thursday nights from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for 12 weeks, June 6 through August 29 (except July 4).
Each week will feature different makes of cars; however, all cars are welcome to cruise to the air field every week. The event will also feature a fly-in for airplanes. Just Cause 3 Day, 60 Mile Breast Cancer Walk
On May 31, June 1 and 2, a small group of women will be walking one step at a time, to support the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden and the Gillette Center for women’s cancer at Mass General Hospital. 100% of the money raised will be given directly to these organizations. If someone you know has been touched by breast cancer, we can walk in their honor or memory. On Day 1, we will walk from the Healing Garden in Harvard to Nancy’s Airfield Café at the Minuteman Airport for lunch and walk back. On Day 2, we will walk to the Colonial Inn in Concord and walk back the next day. We will be stopping at the Stowaway Inn for lunch. Thanks to the generosity of Nancy Mc Pherson and Celia Hyde for being annual supporters for the walk.

Take a Hike for Humanity with Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts
Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts, a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, invites all residents of north central Massachusetts to join them at Take a Hike for Humanity on June 1st and June 8th.
Take a Hike for Humanity is an annual walk and hike to benefit Habitat for Humanity affiliates in New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts, including Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts. This fundraising hike begins with participants finding sponsors to pledge support to the affiliate that the hiker is representing and then completing a hike on one of the two hike dates. This year hikers may choose between tackling the rugged trails to the peak of Mt. Monadnock in Jaffry, NH on June 1st, or walking the more subtle trails of DCR’s Blue Hills Reservation in Milton, MA on June 8th.
