Rummage Sale at Union Church of Stow Oct 4th & 5th
The Union Church of Stow will be holding the Fall Rummage Sale on Friday Oct 4th 9AM- 1PM and 6PM- 8PM and again Saturday Oct 5th 9AM-1PM. Wonderful bargains of all sorts — clothing, shoes, linens, books, media, housewares & toys. Always lots of girls & women’s clothing. Saturday the already low prices will be dropped, to the floor, when our famous bag sale starts at 11AM. It’s always fun to come & browse. No-Carve Pumpkin Decorating, Saturday, October 5th, 12pm for KIDS, 3pm for TEENS- Emily Mlchak is coming to Randall Library to help Stow’s kids and teens decorate pumpkins for the coming season.
Ed Morgan, “The Music Man”, Thursday, October 10th, at 10:30am-Come enjoy an interactive sing-along for children ages 1 to 99 with Ed Morgan, “The Music Man”. Learn new ways to connect with your family through songs. This family friendly performance will have everyone up moving, dancing and singing. We hope to see you there.

On Saturday, October 5, visit the Stow Minutemen’s 18th century encampment on the Lower Village Common in Stow (in front of Papa Gino’s on Rt. 117).
Volunteer reenactors will set up camp, cook and bake over an open fire, do musket firings, play fife and drum music, and demonstrate period crafts and activities including: lace making, candle dipping, writing, toys and games.
The encampment will be open to the public from 10 AM to 5 PM. Learn about a period of our local history, try writing with a real quill pen, drill with the minutemen and bring home a candle you dipped yourself!
Stow Lions Annual Fall Flea Market
It’s time… The Stow Lions Flea Market is on Saturday October 5, 2013. The Flea Market opens at 07:00. The Stow Lions Field is located at the intersection of Route 117 & Hudson Road in Stow. The Rain Date is Sunday October 6.
Ample parking, approximately 65 dealers, well attended, always attracts a high volume of customers. Clean, well run, with a friendly atmosphere. Good selection of goods, collectibles, books, tools, toys, and decorator items. With the weather as nice as it, it should be a great day. Hope you can find time to stop in and do a little shopping.

144th Harvest Fair, First Parish Church of Stow and Acton
Come to the 144th annual Harvest Fair, Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10am-3pm at the First Parish Church of Stow and Acton. The church is located at 353 Great Rd on the Common in Stow. There is free parking and the event will be held rain or shine.
Featured will be all types of homemade baked goods and preserves as well as handcrafted gift items and cards. A full lunch and snacks will be served and our famous apple pies will be available. A large variety of videos and CDs will be available, as well as books and retro jewelry. A special children’s area will include the popular “Moon Bounce” and fun new games. Try your luck in the 50/50 raffle while you’re there and enjoy listening to the great musical groups that will perform. Proceeds benefit the church and there is no admission. Skylight Astronomical Society of Stow presents A Star Watch
Saturday Oct 5th, Dusk – 10 P.M. at the Wayside Inn in Sudbury. An exciting evening exploring the wonders of the heavens. Wonder at deep sky objects like the Andromeda Galaxy( M31), the edge galaxy(NGC891), globular clusters (eg M15), and nebulae. Saturn may be visible just after dusk so be early. Stow Postal Pantry “Share the Bounty” Annual Food Drive

New Book Club Meeting
The Book Group will be meeting next at Randall Library Tuesday, October 15th, 7PM to 8PM. We are reading a novel, “The Leftovers” by Tom Perrotta. What if–whoosh, right now, with no explanation – a number of us simply disappear? Would we think it was Rapture? Would some of us collapse? Read on with us and all are welcome for the discussion.
Nashoba Girls Lacrosse Spring 2014 Registration
Important Changes! Spring Registration will be opening on or about October 15 and will close by November 30. Early bird registration will be open only to returning NGL players from 10/15 until 10/31. Beginning 11/1, registration will remain open and be open to the general public until 11/30. A discount will be offered to those players who register before 11/15. Team sizes will be limited. We are able to offer only one team per age group. Please make a note of this earlier registration time on your calendar. We don’t want any NGL players to miss out.
Also, NGL will be holding an open meeting on October 7, 2013 at 7 PM at Nashoba Regional High School (12 Green Road, Bolton MA.) All NGL families are encouraged and invited to attend. We will be discussing the upcoming season and what needs to be done to keep our program running. There are several vacancies that need to be filled immediately. The league is in jeopardy of not continuing after the Spring 2014 season should a President and Vice President not be identified. Stow Garden Club Meeting
The Stow Garden Club will hold their next meeting on Wednesday, October 16th @ 7pm at the Union Church in Stow. The program will be presented by one of our members, MariePatrice Masse with a discussion about the advantages and benefits of “Deadheading”. Meetings are held monthly and we invite anyone interested in gardening topics to attend the October or future meetings. Refreshments will be served. October 24 Benefit to Support Victims of Domestic Violence
On October 24, the Rotary Club of Nashoba Valley will sponsor “A Boost for Hope: Supporting Victims of Domestic Violence,” at the Westford Regency Inn & Conference Center. The program will feature Marty Foley, who retired from the Massachusetts State Police in 2007, as the keynote speaker. Marty investigated the murder of Mabel Greineder in 1999 and co-authored a book about the case, “A Murder in Wellesley: The Inside Story of an Ivy-League Doctor’s Double Life, His Slain Wife, and the Trial That Gripped the Nation.” Proceeds from the event will benefit the Domestic Violence Services Network (DVSN) “Lawyer for a Day” program to provide pro bono legal services to victims of domestic violence. The cost is $25, which includes a buffet dinner and a donation to DVSN. Registration and cocktails will be from 5:30 to 6:30 PM with dinner and the presentation starting at 6:30. The Stow Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), under the direction of the Board of Health (BoH), has scheduled a Flu Clinic to administer vaccine for influenza from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, October 26th at the Hale School. Only the injection form of vaccine will be available (i.e., there will be no intranasal option) and the vaccine can be administered to individuals 6 months of age and older. Cost for vaccination will be covered by insurance and/or Medicare so bring your cards or a copy of your cards (front and back). Looking for a fun way to light up your Halloween? Come celebrate in a truly haunted style at the Randall Library on October 30th at 7:00pm when Christopher Daley will be at the library for a presentation that melds historical fact together with legends and myths to produce a fascinating account of spooky real life events that took place all around New England and the hauntings that still follow them. For ages 12 and up.
Crafters wanted for our Annual Holiday Craft Fair sponsored by The Stow Friends of the Council on Aging to be held on Saturday, November 9, 9am to 3pm at the St. Isidore Church located at 429 Great Rd, Stow, MA. We are opening our annual craft fair to include a select group of juried crafters. Booths are 8’ by 10’ for $40.00 each. There will also be food, senior crafts and a bake sale. We attract a large attendance and are always well supported by the Stow residents as well as visitors from adjoining towns. We will advertise in local newspapers as well as posting ads at local merchants and will display a street banner.
