Randall Library Programs
Mutt-i-gree Yoga with Maureen Trunfio, Thursday, November 7th at 1pm- As part of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, Maureen Trunfio will direct a kids’ yoga class with an emphasis on self-reflection and “Downward-Facing Dog” of course. Ages 7-14. Sign-up sheet is at the circulation desk.

“How to Adopt an Animal Into Your Family,”- Thursday, November 7th at 3pm-As part of National Animal Shelter Appreciation week the Randall Library is pleased to have representatives from Apple Country Animal Hospital on hand with a “special guest” to discuss what to look for when adopting a pet into your family. The vets will be on hand to educate you and your family on what to look for in order to provide the best fit for everybody at home. We will also have a special collection of books available for circulation, to tap into Animal Shelter Appreciation week.

Appearance by Tilia Klebenov Jacobs, author of Wrong Place, Wrong Time, Thursday, November 7th at 7pm- Join us at the Randall Library when we welcome Tilia Klebenov Jacobs, author of the suspense-filled action novel Wrong Place, Wrong Time. She will read from her gripping tale of intrigue in which characters are drawn to desperate actions when faced with family deceit and kidnapping. This hard- to-put-down book will have you on the edge of your seat and awaiting the next novel from this fascinating author.

Toto the Tornado Kitten, Saturday, November 9th at 11:30am- Toto was only a tiny, 6 oz kitten when he was rescued from a tree after the 2011 tornado in Brimfield Massachusetts. Now Toto is one cool cat who travels the state with his rescuer Jonathan Hall to tell his story and promote animal rescue and empathy. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of his book will go to the Animal Rescue League of Boston

Ed Morgan, “The Music Man,” Thursday, November 14th, at 10:30am-Come enjoy an interactive sing-along for children ages 1 to 99 with Ed Morgan, “The Music Man.” Learn new ways to connect with your family through songs. This family-friendly performance will have everyone up moving, dancing and singing. We hope to see you there!

Early Literacy Workshops for Preschoolers, Friday, November 15, 2013, 10:30am- Cynthia Maxfield, the Early Childhood Coordinator of the Nashoba Community Partnership for Children will be at the Randall Library to present children and parents with fun activities and games to promote early literacy skills in pre-school aged children.

Nashoba Girls Lacrosse Spring 2014 Registration 
Important Changes! Spring Registration is now open and will close by November 30.  Beginning 11/1, registration will remain open and be open to the general public until 11/30.  A discount will be offered to those players who register before 11/15.  Team sizes will be limited. Stow Garden Club Meeting
The Stow Garden Club will hold their next meeting on Wednesday, November 6th @ 7pm at the Union Church in Stow.  The program will be “Make and Take”.  Members and guests will no doubt enjoy making a special floral arrangement and taking it home.  Meetings are held monthly and we invite anyone interested in gardening topics to attend the November or future meetings. Royal Scottish Country Dance Society
The Stow class of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society will meet on Friday, November 8th at the Stow Town Hall.  Scottish Country Dancing is the much older version of our Contra Dancing and is quite social.  Partners are not needed.  Soft-soled shoes are recommended.  There will be a Children’s Class beginning at 6:30 pm and and Adult/Teen Beginner’s Class at 7:15.  Social Dancing begins at 8:00.  All are welcome to join this enjoyable and social dance form  Please join us.

Annual Holiday Craft Fair
The Annual Holiday Craft Fair sponsored by The Stow Friends of the Council on Aging will be held on Saturday, November 9, from 9am to 3pm at the St. Isidore Church located at 429 Great Rd (Rte 117), Stow, MA. You are invited to attend the great holiday craft shopping provided by carefully selected crafters from the local area. Many of last year’s crafters are returning and some new ones have been added. There will be many hand crafted items including paintings on wood and glass, metal and glass jewelry, cross stitch items, scenic photography, handmade pottery, children’s educational books by Usborne, hand knitted items, and scroll saw baskets just to mention a few. There will be a pottery making demonstration. There will be a baked goods table featuring breads, cakes and sweets and home canned jellies and jams. There will be arts and crafts made by the Seniors of Stow. Visit our used book table. Drop in and have lunch with us.  Hot dogs, corn chowder and drinks will be on the menu.

Gleasondale Village Planning and Design Workshop 
Saturday November 9, 9:30am to 12:30pm – Hale Middle School Cafeteria. The Stow Planning Department and the UMASS Center for Economic Development invite Stow residents and business owners to an interactive workshop focused on revitalization of the Gleasondale mill and surrounding neighborhood.  In this engaging session the students will help residents explore the practical issues and opportunities around revitalization of this often overlooked village and build on a vision inspired by the people who know it best.  *Refreshments will be served.

A Star Watch at the Stow Minute Man Airfield
Presented by Skylight Astronomical Society, Inc of Stow on Saturday Nov 9th Dusk – 10 P.M. Come see the mysteries in the sky. Join your neighbors for an exciting evening exploring the wonders of the heavens. Wonder at deep sky objects like the Andromeda Galaxy( M31), the edge galaxy(NGC891), globular clusters (eg M15), and nebulae. Venus may be visible just after dusk. Veterans Breakfast – Open To All

New Book Club Meeting
The next meeting of the New Book Club will be on Tuesday, November 12 at 7PM at the library.  Join us as we review Bel Canto by Ann Patchett.  A birthday party in honor of a powerful Japanese businessman is interrupted as terrorists take the entire group hostage.  This is South America and Roxanne Cross, the revered soprano, is among the prisoners.    Tell us what you think of the story line.  Why is Ann Patchett so popular? Stow Area Parents Network (SAPN) Pre-Kindergarten Playgroup
Friday, November 15, 3:30-5pm. BB Kidz Klub (364 Littleton Rd., Westford). Will your child be entering Kindergarten in September 2014?  If so, join our first quarterly pre-k playgroup of the year at Westford’s BB Kidz Klub.  The kids will meet future classmates while having fun jumping, climbing, and playing, and the caregivers will have time to get to know each other while enjoying complimentary coffee.  SAPN will provide a small snack for the kids.  Admission is at the reduced rate of $8/child, and siblings are welcome to attend (at the same discounted rate).  Members are asked to RSVP on Big Tent by November 13 so that we are sure to have enough snacks.  This event is open to all local families with children entering kindergarten next fall; non-members can RSVP via email to Jess Manger at [email protected].

Nashoba Chess Club
The Nashoba Chess Club meets on Fridays at The Nashoba High School cafeteria, located at12 Green Rd, Bolton MA.  Instruction for all levels and ages of children start at 5:30 pm. Games take place 6 –7:30 pm. Coaching is provided by Dr. Toth. Light refreshments and snacks are served. Player contributions of $2 are asked at the door to cover costs. For experienced older players, the club is also an opportunity for mentoring, besides playing challenging chess games with peers. Saturday, November 23, 10:30 a.m., Randall Library, 19 Crescent St., Stow. Guest Speaker: Computer Geek Charlie Hoover. Charlie Hoover (charliehoover.com) has been roaming the Boston area for over a decade now helping people from all walks of life with their technology needs. At BTC he specializes in teaching and troubleshooting everything from PCs and Macs to Smartphones and Servers. Boston TechCollective (BTC) is a worker-owned cooperative offering tech-support to homes and businesses around the greater Boston area.
