Parish Jazz Band, Thursday, December 5th at 7pm- A local band led by Roy Miller, the Parish Jazz band plays American Jazz standards such as Sentimental Journey and Fly Me to the Moon. Join us for an evening of music and holiday fun. For all ages. Refreshments will be served.
Baby Sign Language Program, December 11th at 10:45am-Join SAPN in welcoming Jillian Berlinski from Hand in Hand Sign. Jillian has a M. Ed. and holds teaching certification in both Massachusetts and Connecticut for elementary and special education. She will give a baby sign language presentation to children ages 0-3. Author Talk: Jennifer Zobair, Thursday December 12th at 7pm- Fans of Jumpa Lahiri’s book The Nameske will love Jennifer Zobair’s Painted Hands. Filled with Boston references and riveting characters Painted Hands, follows the lives of three friends who juggle careers and family demands while trying to balance Muslin religious and cultural beliefs with an American way of life. Zobair will be at the Randall Library to speak about her inspirations for writing the book and will be available for book signing. Refreshments will be available.

The Stow Garden Club invites you to carry on the tradition of bringing greenery into the house during the dreary days of winter to brighten up your life. Club members are busily creating Decorated Boxwood Trees, Kissing Balls, Beautiful Wreaths, Center pieces, Swags and various table and home designs. Traditional or Contemporary, Rustic or Sparkling. Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa will celebrate it’s. 30th year on Saturday Dec 7, 9-11:00 AM at St Isidore’s Church. Route 117 in Stow. We will be featuring our Silent Auction, which includes a Bose Wave Radio III, Golf packages from local golf clubs, Chiropractor gift packages, wine, Chocolates from Lindt, etc. We also have a White Elephant with great bargains, face painting, Usborne books for sale , pictures with the Real Santa for a small fee, Thumkins with Patty Selin, and the Breakfast. Holiday Decoration Sale
The Stow Friends of the Council on Aging is conducting the annual sale of donated Christmas decorations on Saturday, December 7. at the Council on Aging Friendship Room from 9 am to 1 pm in the lower level of the town building. Come early and pick out the good treasures at bargain prices. This is a great opportunity to get like new items to decorate your home for the holidays and help the Seniors of Stow at the same time.
Family Christmas Carol Sing at Union Church of Stow
Please join us 6PM to 7:30 PM on Saturday December 7th for a family friendly carol sing. There will be light refreshments such as cider and donuts, children’s crafts and a tree to decorate. Together we will sing beloved Christmas carols. This friendly get-together is suitable for all ages. If you have not yet visited our church, this is an opportunity to come and get acquainted. Stow Solar Open Houses
Two Solar Open Houses will be held in December. Sunday, Dec. 8 at Ann Deluty’s home, 51 Birch Hill Rd, Stow, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 Jack Zettler’s home, 52 Barton Rd, Stow, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Solar Open Houses will give local residents and businesses the opportunity to view working residential solar electric systems. Stow Solar Challenge representatives will be present to answer questions about solar and about the Stow Solar Challenge’s discounts. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. The Stow Solar Challenge is being driven by the Stow Energy Working Group and local volunteers, with the endorsement of the town selectmen.
Part 1 of Handel’s “Messiah”
On Sunday, December 8 at at 5 p.m. the First Parish Church of Stow and Acton will present a special Vespers service featuring Part I and the Hallelujah Chorus of George Frideric Handel’s masterwork “Messiah” featuring the church choir and four special guest vocalists. Additional singers and musicians from the church will participate. All the music is under the direction of FPC Music Director, Mike Pfitzer, and the service will be led by our Minister, Tom Rosiello. Child care will be provided for younger children. The church is located at 353 Great Road in Stow MA (at the intersection of Rts. 117 and 62) and the facilities are wheelchair accessible. Boxborough-Stow Emergency Services Appreciation Day
The local aviation community will host an Emergency Services Appreciation Day in the South Hangar at Minute Man Air Field in Stow on Saturday, December 14th at 11am. Designed to thank all of the Boxborough, Stow and regional emergency services personnel, the event will include personal testimonials and the presentation of certificates of appreciation. A light lunch, cake and ice cream will be served at noon, followed by free plane rides for emergency personnel provided by local pilots. The Friends of Minuteman Airfield, the Airport Commission, local pilots, and airport owners Nancy and Don McPherson are hosting this event, which is open to the public. Everyone in the area who has ever been assisted by emergency services is invited to come and voice their gratitude for the efforts of our local police, firefighters, and EMTs. New Book Club Meeting

ArtSpace Annual Holiday Gift Sale
The artists at the ArtSpace-Maynard Art Center present their Annual Holiday Gift Sale,
a three-day event that will be held on Friday, December 6th from 5-8 p.m., Saturday,
December 7th from 12 – 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 8th from 12 – 6 p.m. This is a unique opportunity to purchase creative gifts made by over fifty local artists. Among the participating artists are: book binders, fabric artists, bag makers, jewelers, painters, paper makers, potters, photographers, polymer clay artists, sculptors, soap makers, wood carvers, and all types of art instructors. Annual River’s Edge Holiday Concert
The 8th annual River’s Edge Holiday Concert will be held on December 15, 3:00 pm at Hudson High School, 69 Brigham Street and will continue our 2013-2014 Hometown Season. Performing in this popular concert will be the River’s Edge Community Band, the River’s Edge Chorale and the River’s Edge Youth Chorus. The members of these groups represent over 20 surrounding communities.
Come early and finish your holiday shopping at our River’s Edge Holiday Shoppe featuring arts and crafts handmade by local artists and vendors as well as a poinsettia sale. The Holiday Shoppe which will take place in the cafeteria from 2:00-3:00, during intermission and after the concert.
