Field Hockey Calls Home Turf

By Ellen Oliver

Field hockey is the first official varsity home game on Nashoba’s turf field kicking off their season on Friday, September 6 at 7:00 pm. The Chieftains face a familiar foe, Central Mass D1 champ Shrewsbury, well-known because the Colonial’s coach, Lauren Chenevert, leads a popular club team. “A lot of the girls play for her and she knows what they can do,” said Nashoba Coach Jaime Mariani, who is still game planning against the challenge.

Mariani has been using the team’s three scrimmages to determine try-outs and to fill the positions vacated by the six graduated seniors. “I’m really pleased with how the girls are playing,” said Coach Mariani. “We can scrimmage in practice, but I can’t see what the players will do against a team as a team.”

By Jordana Bieze Foster

Finding 29 Sudbury can be difficult. But there are plenty of reasons to make the effort.

First off, 29 Sudbury may be the name of the new Italian-inspired restaurant co-owned by WAAF radio personality and Stow resident Greg Hill, but it’s not the address. So don’t put that in your GPS – you’ll end up in Concord. The actual address is 29 Hudson Road, in Sudbury Town Square, which is actually a rather convenient location for Stow patrons.

Summer Concerts at SCP

By Ellen Oliver

The band Illusions kicked off the Recreation Department’s new summer concert series at Stow Community Park on Thursday August 22. After an earlier concert had been postponed due to rain, the weather was beautiful, perfect for sitting outside and enjoying live music.

Although this year only two concerts were scheduled, the Recreation Commission hopes it will be the start of a new tradition for the town. “We’re happy to add this event to the Recreation Department offerings for town residents,” said Recreation Director Laura Greenough. “We hope it grows and we can offer more than just two concerts each summer.”

By Ann Needle

As Nashoba Regional High heads back to school today, many Stow students will be adjusting to a number of changes in personnel and facilities at both Nashoba Regional High School and the central District office.

At NRHS, perhaps the most visible new face belongs to Kerry O’Donnell, who has taken over Tracy Calo’s position as assistant principal, announced Principal Dr. Parry Graham. “She is a rock star, she will be wonderful,” Graham enthused.
