Just before press time, we received the sad news that Ernest Goldman had passed away. Goldman had celebrated his 100th birthday this past December and had most recently been featured in our November 13 edition. A longtime resident, Ernest was well known for his role in the development of the Sounds of Stow musical performance ensemble, along with his engineering and mathematical skills and was well-loved in the community. While we are unable to provide any information regarding services at this time, we will update our website as information becomes available.
We heard last week that former Stow resident and volunteer Russ Willis had passed away in California where he and wife Kathleen had moved several years ago. The couple had lived in Stow for 18 years and were actively involved in many community volunteer efforts. Among other contributions, Russ’ handiwork will live on in the split rail fence he hand stained and helped install in Lower Village.
Our sympathies to the family and friends of Ernest and Russ.
This week, we look at various aspects of health and fitness, including a comparison of several area gyms/fitness centers and some expert advice on small steps recommended to increase financial, physical and nutritional health.
I have to apologize. On last week’s front page, several of the page numbers for the continuation of the articles were switched around. What’s sad is that, after making some last minute changes to article placements, I went back and corrected the front page to reflect the new page numbers, putting in the opposite of what had been there. Unfortunately, I’d already done that and so ended up incorrectly correcting the corrections…
