The big news of the week is the approval from Town Meeting voters to begin the design phase of a new Fire Station and Community Center to be located in the former Pompo School building. With a nearly unanimous vote of the 233 people in attendance at the meeting, it seems the people have spoken. But considering there are 4901 registered voters in Stow, that is a pretty low percentage of people “speaking.” Congratulations to those who were able to attend the meeting and help steer the town. And many thanks to the volunteers that spent so much time preparing for the meeting.
Next up is Town Election where voters must again approve the funding of the design for the Pompo Reuse plan, along with voting in elected officials on the town ballot. Polls open Tuesday, May 13 at 7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m.
And, as is tradition in Stow, the weekend after the election, Springfest weekend will be held. Beginning Friday, May 16 with programs and activities running through Sunday afternoon, it is a great opportunity for residents to come together and enjoy a weekend of fun. Look for activities in the Calendar.
My grape hyacinths are growing like gangbusters this year. I have no idea why, but I’m not complaining. And things are finally beginning to green up. It may be a bit late, but I’ll take it.
