Children’s Religious Education Classes Start at Union Church
On Sunday, September 14, the Union Church of Stow begins a new year of children’s religious education classes. If you are searching for a church for yourself, your family, or for your children’s religious education, this is a good time to visit our church. This year our theme will be “Grow Your Faith By Leaps and Bounds.” Infants and toddlers are dropped off with qualified child care providers (trained in Infant First Aid and CPR) before the worship service. All other children (age 4 and up) attend the Sunday worship service for the first 10 minutes or so. After the “children’s moment,” children go to the religious education classrooms while adults listen to the sermon.
Whether you prefer the term Sunday School or Religious Ed, if a Christian foundation is what you are looking for, please stop in and visit our friendly community church. And, be sure to stay for coffee hour to meet us. The Union Church of Stow is located at 317 Great Rd., Stow. It is the white church with the blue doors. Worship services begin at 9:30am. Reception for Mardi Gras Indian photos
On September 14, from 3 – 4:30pm, there will be a reception at Nancy’s Airfield Café, 302 Boxboro Rd, Stow, for photographer Michael Neustadt of Sudbury. Refreshments will be served. Mr. Neustadt is exhibiting photographs at the Cafe from his collection of Mardi Gras Indians through September 30.
Mr. Neustadt has been a frequent visitor to New Orleans since 1986. As he learned about the many cultures of New Orleans, he developed an interest in the sub-cultures of Mardi Gras. One of those is the tradition of African-American residents who “suit up” and “mask” as Indians on Mardi Gras Day. Each tribe member creates a new suit every year. The suits take up to a year to complete.
