Happy New Year to everyone and welcome back to our print edition. Hope everyone had a good holiday. I had a great vacation- busy, but a good busy with family and friends. And just as I was getting back into work mode, my body revolted and I got sick! Nothing serious, just a funny coincidence. But, back to business it is.
Sadly, there are three obituaries in this week’s paper. Condolences to all of the family’s on their losses, but for us at the Independent, we especially feel the loss of Dick Luxner. Dick has periodically contributed to the paper over the years and was particularly good about keeping up with the library happenings, and more recently, the events at the West School. We will miss his contributions.
While January in New England is not known for its balmy temps, Thursday morning is supposed to really get down into the bitter range, with wind chills expected to be below -20. Please check on your neighbors, especially if they are elderly or alone or disabled in any way, to make sure they have what they need to get through the cold snap safely. Stay warm!
