Volunteers for THE Stow Disaster Animal Response Team
The town of Stow will shelter individuals and their pets (in an adjacent shelter), during a disaster requiring the evacuation of residents from their homes. To run the shelter effectively, we are recruiting volunteers to staff our pet “co-shelter” during short-term emergencies. Volunteers require no special background, but should enjoy and be comfortable with pets. Training will be provided by the Stow Disaster Animal Response Team (DART), part of the Stow Medical Reserve Corps. DART volunteers assist with the pet intake and registration process, help staff the shelter, and monitor care of animals by their pet owners during an emergency.
Our next orientation meeting will be held on Saturday, May 23, at 10am at the Randall Library. Call 978-897-4592 or email [email protected] to register for this orientation.
