The Nashoba Regional High School Guidance Office Senior College Planning Night on Wednesday, September 16, 6:30pm, at the NRHS Auditorium. Guidance counselors will be present to answer questions about the “nuts and bolts” of the college application process. There also will be a presentation and college fair, featuring the transition to college for students with learning differences, on Wednesday, September 30, 6pm, in the Auditorium. “The best college fit for a successful transition” will be presented. OARS River Cleanup – Join Us!
The Organization for the Assabet River will hold its 29th Annual River Cleanup on Saturday, September 19, from 9am to 12 noon. OARS volunteers will wade into the Assabet, Sudbury, and Concord rivers and tributaries to continue the effort to restore our beautiful rivers. There is lots of work to be done. We will be working this year in Stow and surrounding towns. The cleanup will be followed by a pizza lunch and celebration along the rivers. LIFE AT LAKE BOON
On Wednesday, September 23, at 7pm, local historian Dick Gelpke presents the third in a series of three presentations on the history of Lake Boon. Gelpke is a long time Lake Boon resident, retired from the Department of Geography & Earth Science at the University of Massachusetts Boston. The Stow Women’s Club is hosting an open house for prospective members on Friday, September 25, from 7 – 9:30pm, at 531 Great Rd. (yellow house next door to the former Pompositticutt School). There will a short business meeting focussed on suggestions/preliminary plans for club events during the autumn and the early winter months, such as our Progressive Dinner in October and our Breakfast With Santa fundraiser in December. For 48 years the Stow Women’s Club has offered Stow women opportunities for socialization as well as for charitable work. Some of our recent activities included a floral arranging class, a visit to a Boston art museum, a comedy club outing, a jewelry making class, and a walk to raise money for breast cancer research. Registration Now Open for New After School Music Program
The River’s Edge Arts Alliance is pleased to offer a new and exciting After School Music Program with a diverse array of talented musicians who are also committed teachers. The REAA offers group and private lessons to students in grade 4 and older in the Greater Hudson/Marlborough area. Lessons encompass instruction in woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments as well as beginner piano, guitar, and vocal instruction. Whether students are beginning a new instrument or honing skills developed through many years of practice, the River’s Edge Arts Alliance After School Music Program is dedicated to helping young musicians excel. Our teachers work with students to help them develop basic skills, learn repertoire, and prepare them for a spring recital performance.
