9th Annual Stow Gobbler 5K Run/Walk
Would you like to work up an appetite this Thanksgiving while helping a good cause? Then please consider running, walking, or volunteering in the 9th Annual Stow Gobbler 5K. The race will take place Thanksgiving morning (Nov. 26), beginning at Stow Community Park and ending at Bose in Stow. Supported by Stow Recreation, this event will donate all proceeds to Habitat for Humanity and the Stow Community Chest. The race launches at 8am. Register before Nov. 1 and receive a free t-shirt! Early check-in and race registration will be held from 3-5pm on Wednesday, November 25. Registration can also be done at 6:30-7:30am on race day.

All Souls Day Service at First Parish Church in Stow
A special All Souls Day service will be held Union Church parking lotat the First Parish Church of Stow and Acton (FPC), 353 Great Rd., on November 1 at 9 and 11am. Anyone attending may bring a photo or memento of a deceased loved one to help create FPC’s “All Souls Day Altar of Remembrance.” After the service, everyone is invited to plant daffodils in front of the church to remind us in spring how the loved ones we’ve lost live on with us in spirit. Visitors, especially those who have lost a loved one recently, are invited to join us and participate in this beautiful service. FPC’s facilities are wheelchair accessible. “Magnificent Melodies” at Amazing Things Arts
The Stow COA is planning a trip to the Amazing Things Arts Center for a classical concert featuring piano and viola on Wednesday, November 4. The trip leaves from the Union Church parking lot at 9:30am. Two Boston-area musicians will be featured. Amazing Things is a charming local theater in Framingham which hosts a variety of performances. The cost for this trip is $8 for admission and the van. Lunch afterward is on your own. stow garden club events
The Stow Garden Club will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, November 4, at 7pm, at the Union Church in Stow. There will be two activities, “Make and Take” and “Bow Making”. Please bring a small to medium flower container to “make” an arrangement to “take” home. The flowers will be provided and purchased by the Garden Club, so please contact Louise Peacock at 978-897-4569 if you plan to attend this meeting so sufficient supplies will be available. The second presentation (and hands on) will be “Bow Making” – just in time for the Holidays. It’s all about the presentation of a gift that makes it so special. Be a participant, have fun, and learn this art form.
A New Community Supper in Stow
All are welcome to a new community supper in Stow. Guest Table at FPC will serve dinner from 5:30 to 6:30pm. on the first Friday of the month at First Parish Church of Stow & Acton (FPC) starting Nov. 6. Guest Table welcomes everyone, in or out of Stow, whether they’re looking for a sense of community, are feeling lonely, are having some financial difficulties, or just want a change of atmosphere. There’s no charge for dinner, but donations are gratefully accepted. Dinners will be nut-free, with gluten-free and dairy-free options available. Simply show up at FPC’s Fellowship Hall on the first Friday of the month, starting November 6 at 5:30pm. FPC is located at 353 Great Rd. Its facilities are wheelchair accessible. Stow Area Parents Network (SAPN) Pre-K Event
Kids planning to start kindergarten next September will want to grab a caregiver and bring them to Color*Full in Acton on Nov. 7, from 10am-2pm, for SAPN’s quarterly Pre-K Playgroup to meet their future classmates. We will have a project to do, snacks to eat, and friends to meet. This event is open to the public, so invite your fellow Pre-K friends.
Publishing Networking Group Meeting
The Publishing Networking Group’s next meeting will be Saturday, Nov. 7, 10:30am, at the Randall Library. Our guest speaker will be Sarah Cressy from the Assabet Valley Chamber of Commerce, leading a discussion on marketing. This is a public meeting open to anyone interested in the publishing field. Stow Conservation Trust’s Annual Meeting
Stow Conservation Trust’s Annual Meeting will be held from 6 to 9pm on Saturday, Nov. 14. Our guest speaker will be Jeff Collins (Mass Audubon) on “Functioning Land: Conservation and Stewardship to Maintain Natural Processes”. Dan Cloutier at New Revival Coffeehouse
Singer and songwriter Dan Cloutier will open the season at the New Revival Coffeehouse in Stow on Saturday, Nov. 14. He’ll perform a collection of fast-paced folk anthems, sweet tremolo electric jams, quiet story songs, and more from his latest CD, “Blind Willie’s Lighthouse.” The coffeehouse is located at the wheelchair-accessible First Parish Church, 353 Great Rd., Stow. Doors open at 7pm and the concert begins at 7:30pm. Homemade desserts and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. Tickets are $15 in advance at BrownPaperTickets.com and $18 at the door.
CRAFTERS WANTED
Crafters are wanted for our Annual Holiday Craft Fair sponsored by The Stow Friends of the Council on Aging to be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, 9am to 3pm, at St. Isidore Church, located at 429 Great Rd. We are opening our annual craft fair to include a select group of juried crafters. Booths are 8’ by 10’ for $40 each. There will also be food, senior crafts, and a bake sale. We will advertise in local newspapers as well as posting ads at local merchants and will display a street banner.
