Nancy Kyle, now residing at Whitney Place in Westboro, was gleeful as she read the news of her recently unearthed time capsule. She doesn’t remember the contents of the capsule but has very fond memories of her students and teaching. Over Thanksgiving, Tom Porcher and Cathy Leonard visited their daughter, Emily, and her husband, Eric, in Kofu, Yamanashi, Japan, where Emily is teaching English for a year. Yamanashi is a largely agricultural area located 1-2 hours west of Tokyo. It specializes in fruits of all kinds, but is most famous for peaches, grapes, and wine. We never tired of seeing (and photographing) Mt. Fuji, which was visible everywhere we traveled in the region. Even though Mt. Fuji does not show up in the light of this photo, we could see it towering above the mountain range in the background.
