To quickly follow up on my Windows 10 fiasco– overall, the operating system was okay, except it didn’t play well with my publishing software, which was a deal breaker. (It also led me to overwrite the Bolton paper file update, creating a lot of unnecessary work). So I ended up rolling back to Windows 7, which turned out to be easy and only took about 10 or 15 minutes and all is well now. I heard from someone else in Stow that the same thing had happened to her – the download just randomly started with no warning, shutting her out of open programs she’d been working on with no chance to save. It’s definitely worth looking at either scheduling the update at your convenience or canceling the whole thing. At least you can easily roll back if you don’t like it or your programs don’t work right with it.
