Bill and Mary Ann Hofmann returned to Montargis, France where they lived while Bill served as a liaison officer to the French Army Telecommunications School. Montargis, about 70 miles south of Paris, sometimes bills itself as the “Venice of the Gâtinais” due to its numerous canals and bridges and still retains a medieval charm in the downtown area. On the weekend of Sept 9, Scott Lilliott rode his motorcycle 425 miles to meet 50 of his closest friends at the Canadian Assault in St. Alphonse-de-Rodriguez, QC. The group has been traveling to this location for twenty years and this may be their last time, as the location, Camp De-La-Salle, may be sold after 60+ years. Some riders came from as far away as Northern Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. One flew in from Colorado. The Canadian fellow-biker hosts arrange and cook all the meals, others provided live music. The area has beautiful scenery, great riding roads, and challenging day hikes, as well as covered parking for all the motorcycles (shown below)!
