BREAKFAST CLUB, Over Easy Café, Sterling – Aug. 9, 8:30am Cost: $4 plus meal. A neighborhood favorite, Over Easy Café offers a variety of menu options. Known for huge portions and homemade specials like hash and breads as well as service, you will be sure to leave feeling happy and full!
CREATIVITY CLASS, Beachwalk Medallion – Tuesday, Aug. 13, 10 am – Noon. Cost: $30 Register by: 8/9. Limit: 8. In this class, Lara Maira of The Sea and Me Designs will teach participants to fashion sea glass, shells, pebbles and more in a white shadow box frame to design a unique and beautiful piece of art to hang in their homes or give as gifts. All materials will be provided but students are invited to bring any special sea glass or beach finds they have on hand to include.
HAMMOND CASTLE MUSEUM, Gloucester – Wednesday, Aug. 14, 8:15am. Cost: $20 Register by: 8/9. Limit: 14. The guided tour will last approximately 35-40 minutes and cover basic information about the history of the building and its inhabitants. Please note: There are over 200 steps in the museum. It is not handicapped accessible for assistive devices such as wheelchairs and walkers due to the number of stairs.
BEAT THE HEAT BLOCKBUSTER MOVIES – RACE – Thursday Aug. 15, 1pm. Year: 2016 Rated: PG-13. Jessie Owens’ quest to become the greatest track and field athlete in history thrusts him onto the world stage of the 1936 Olympics where he battles not only competitors, but racism, and perseveres.
STARSTUFF – FPC SUMMER SERVICE
A new tradition is being inaugurated at First Parish Church of Stow & Acton (FPC) of the Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Landrum repeating an earlier popular sermon for a summer service! This service from Nov. 2018, “Starstuff,” explores the theology of Carl Sagan, who explained that we are all made of starstuff. The service will take place both in person and virtually on Aug. 11 at 10am. Masking is optional. Child care is available for all in-person summer services. SCT’S BIKE FOR THE WOODS IS AUGUST 11
The Stow Conservation Trust is once again having its Bike for the Woods charity bike ride! The ride is on Sunday, Aug. 11 at 9:00am. starting at the Hartley Road entrance of Stow’s Center School at 403 Great Road. Parking will be available on both sides of the school, but the ride starts on the Hartley Road side. Enter “Hartley Road, Stow, MA” in your car’s GPS. The ride is great for families and children as well as more “serious” riders, with well-marked routes of 5, 14, 37 and 65 miles. All routes are arrowed and there are GPS files for bike computers. The cost is $25 per adult rider or $15 per child (with a $50 maximum per family) if you register early. Same day registration costs are $5 higher. All proceeds benefit the Stow Conservation Trust.
Food and drink are available at the start and at rest stops for the longer rides.

MULTIGENERATIONAL GAME NIGHT AT FPC
All are welcome to a multigenerational game night that takes place on the third Friday of the month at First Parish Church of Stow & Acton (FPC). Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Enjoy free parking, free snacks, and free fun!

STOW RESIDENT TO RUN FALMOUTH RACE IN SUPPORT OF BRAIN INJURY
The Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts (BIA-MA) is pleased to announce it will be returning to compete in 52nd Annual ASICS Falmouth Road Race with Team BIA-MA on Sunday, Aug. 18. BIA-MA welcomes Matt Buttiglieri (Stow) to his first run of the Falmouth Road Race for BIA-MA. Matt ran for Nashoba Regional High School cross country and track teams and recently ran the Amica Newport Marathon. Thirty-two years ago, Matt’s mom suffered a brain injury in a car accident. After a long recovery, she began working for BIA-MA and is now the Public Affairs Manager for the organization.
Though the Falmouth Road Race is not intended as a charity race, the “Numbers for Nonprofits” Program allows nonprofit organizations like BIA-MA to both fundraise and participate. 1ST ROBERT H. HAWKINS MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
Rediscover Mapledale is hosting the 1st Annual Robert H. Hawkins Memorial Golf Tournament to recognize a Black businessman and golf entrepreneur in New England, Robert H. Hawkins. Hawkins is the first African American to build, own, and operate a golf course in Massachusetts. The golf tournament will take place on Monday, Aug. 26 at the Stow Acres Golf and Country Club in Stow. Following a fun round of golf, we’ll host a luncheon for both golfers and non-golfers to finish off the day. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the United Golfers Association (UGA). FAMILY-FRIENDLY CRAFT BEER & FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL
The third annual Assabet Craft Beer & Food Truck Festival will include local craft beer brewers, food trucks, music from Becky & the Swingin’ Bards, and a separate, dedicated children’s area with games and crafts. General admission is $5-10 donation per person, with those 12 and under admitted free. Drink tickets are $5, and soft drinks and bottled water will be available at food trucks. The event will proceed rain or shine.

200TH ANNIVERSARY OF LAFAYETTE’S FAREWELL TOUR IN BOLTON
The Bolton Historical Society will be holding an event in partnership with the American Friends of Lafayette at the Wilder Mansion on Wilder Road on Monday, Sept. 2 at 6:00 p.m. The AFL is commemorating the 200th anniversary of Lafayette’s Farewell tour in America.

On Sept. 4 at 7:15PM, David Wells will present, “Plants along the Assabet River” at the Stow Garden Club meeting at the Community Center, 509 Great Rd., Stow. Dr. Wells, a Stow resident, is an avid Kayaker and photographer, well known for his many nature photos and videos. The public is cordially invited as the Garden Club begins it’s 87th year.
