Warm Hearts of Stow urges community members to contribute to its annual Holiday Toy Fund. Our goal is to ensure that every Stow boy and girl has a special gift to open this holiday season!
It may seem early to start thinking about the winter holidays, but our board members need to begin shopping in just a few weeks. Donations received in October/early November will be very much appreciated!

Rep. Hogan Announces Office Hours in Stow
State Rep. Kate Hogan will be hosting office hours in Stow on Wednesday, November 12, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, at Emma’s Cafe, 117 Great Rd. All are invited to stop by with any questions or ideas. Hogan represents the Third Middlesex District, which includes the towns of Hudson, Bolton, Maynard, and Stow.

Civil War Folk Concert November 15
The Stow Historical Society presents The Hardtack Evening, Saturday, November 15, 7pm,  at the Stow Town Hall. Join us to commemorate the upcoming 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War with an evening of Civil War folk music by The Hardtacks. Year by year, the tumult, tragedies, and triumphs of the era unfold in the music and words of the people who lived them. On display in the Town Hall will be exhibits showcasing Stow’s Civil War veterans and the home front activities of the town.
The evening begins at 7pm, the concert begins at 7:30pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring a finger food dish to share. There is no charge to attend, but donations are welcome.
The concert is sponsored in part by a grant from the Stow Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
Celtic Fiddler Hanneke Cassel in Concert
FPC Music Series presents Celtic fiddler Hanneke Cassel on Saturday, November 15, at 7:30pm in the sanctuary of the First Parish Church of Stow and Acton. Hanneke will perform with cellist Mike Block, a member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road ensemble, and guitarist Keith Murphy. NASHOBA GIRLS LACROSSE SPRING 2015 REGISTRATION
Nashoba Girls Lacrosse Spring Registration is now open until November 30. A $25 discount will be offered to those players who register before November 15. Team sizes will be limited. We are able to offer only one team per age group. Please make a note of this earlier registration time as we don’t want any interested players to miss out.
Also, NGL is looking to fill several vacancies. Some are board positions, but some are what we call “one and done” tasks. Boy Scout Holiday Wreath Sale & Christmas Tree pickup Service
You can still order your holiday wreath by going online to www.troop1stow.net, printing out an order form and mailing your check with your order to Troop 1 Stow, PO Box 75, Stow, MA 01775, or order directly online.
The small plain wreath is priced at $14 and the small decorated is $18. Medium wreaths are $17 plain and $20 decorated, and large plain wreaths are $50. Wreath payment is due by November 17. Your wreaths will be delivered during Thanksgiving week.
The scouts will also be offering Christmas tree pickups at $10 per tree, and trees will be picked up at the end of your driveway January 16 and 17. We request trees be at the end of your driveway by 6pm on January 16. Please make your tree pickup reservation by January 9 via website or mailed-in payment.
NEW BOOK CLUB MEETS
The next meeting of The New Book Club will be on Tuesday, November 18, at 7pm at Randall Library. We will be discussing The House Girl, by Tara Conklin. Nashoba Drama Society Presents “It’s A Wonderful Life”
“It’s A Wonderful Life,”  a true testament to the power of family and friends, will be presented at the Nashoba Regional High School Auditorium, 12 Green Rd, Bolton, by the Nashoba Drama Society. Performances are Friday and Saturday night, November 21 and 22, at 7:30pm; and Sunday afternoon, November 23, at 2pm. Free Community Dinner at Union Church of Stow
Join us Friday, November 21, 5-6pm,  for another Ann’s Community Friendship Dinner. This month we’ll be cooking, roasting, and baking to make Thanksgiving Dinner! The price is free, but donations are accepted. There is no reason to eat alone when you can join us for a good meal and friendly company. Sounds of Stow Presents Bach’s Christmas Oratorio
Experience the full splendor of Bach’s great “Christmas Oratorio”, performed by the Sounds of Stow Chorus and Orchestra, under the direction of Barbara Jones. The concert is Sunday, November 23 at 3:00 PM in Hale School auditorium, 55 Hartley Rd, in Stow (junction of Rte.117/62).  Tickets are $25 general admission, $20 for seniors and adult students, and $10 for students 18 and under.

8th Annual Stow Gobbler 5K Run/Walk
Please consider running, walking, or volunteering in the 8th Annual Stow Gobbler 5K. The race will take place this Thanksgiving morning (November 27), beginning at Stow Community Park and ending at Bose in Stow. Supported by Stow Recreation, this event will donate all proceeds to Habitat for Humanity and the Stow Community Chest. Early check-in and race registration will be held from 3-5pm on Wednesday, November 26. Registration can also be done at 6-7:30am on race day. A Year With Frog and Toad is Fun for the Entire Family
The Acton Cooperative Theater is pleased to present its production of A Year With Frog and Toad on Saturday, November 15, at 1pm and 4pm. A Year With Frog and Toad is a whimsical show that bubbles with melody and wit as  you follow two great friends – cheerful, popular Frog and grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons.

Bagels and Books at Maynard Library
Maynard Library hosts its Bagels and Books group on Saturday, November 15, at 11am. This book group – unlike most – doesn’t choose a single book to discuss. Instead, we choose a subject and everyone shares the books they have read around that topic. The theme for November 15 is World War I – which is commemorating the 100th anniversary this year. The books discussed may be fiction or non-fiction, and they can be about the war or they can be set during this time period to give us a sense of what life was like at that time. A Sense of Place at Great Meadows NWR (Concord)
The marsh moves through many changes in the fall. Join us on Sunday, November 16,  at 2-4pm, for a late afternoon walk around the refuge when autumn’s majesty is most palpable. All ages are welcome. WOMEN’S TRIATHALON CLUB MEETS
AIM is an all-women community-based organization and an official USAT Triathlon Club. It will hold its 2015 Membership Information Session November 16, 6:30 pm, at the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge, 680 Hudson Rd., Sudbury. Guest speaker will be Karen Smyers, 1995 Ironman World Champion and Triathlon Hall of Famer.
Membership is open to women between the ages of 18-65+ living in the greater
MetroWest and surrounding Boston area. Members compete in local, regional, and national triathlons. Others pursue health and fitness goals in camaraderie with team members. Artists Wanted For Exciting New Graphic Art Exhibit
The River’s Edge Arts Alliance is proud to present a “Graphic Art” exhibit at The Sprinkler Factory in Worcester, and is looking for artist submissions. This is a great opportunity for artists of all levels of experience. Registrations with up to five submissions are now being accepted with a deadline of November 21. An opening reception will take place on Saturday, December 6, from 5-7pm. Gallery hours are Saturday, December 13 & 20, from 1-4pm, or by appointment. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

River’s Edge Announces First Annual Young Artist Competition
The River’s Edge Arts Alliance and River’s Edge Community Band announce the first an  nual Young Artist Competition, for students in 12th grade and younger who play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument.
