OBITUARY: Kathy Perkins, 63

STOW–Kathy E. Jeanson Perkins, 63, passed away peacefully after a short but courageous battle with cancer surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 28, 2021.  She is survived by her two children, Matthew E. Perkins & wife Jamie of Bolton, MA; and Haley L. DeCarlo & husband Justin of Westminster, MA; and four adoring grandchildren, Geovanie, Jayda, and Jasper DeCarlo, and Wilson Perkins.  She leaves her sister Ellen Nichols of Winchendon, MA; two brothers, Larry Jeanson of Zephyrhills, FL; and Gary Jeanson of Leominster, MA. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and dear friends, notably Tracy Winslow.  She is pre-deceased by her sister Linda Lazaro, and brother-in-law Richard “Buddy” Nichols.

Daughter of the late Oliver & Virginia (Butler) Jeanson, Kathy was raised in Stow and graduated from the Nashoba Regional High School, Class of 1976, where she excelled as a student athlete and standout member of the women’s varsity basketball team.  In addition to raising her family she worked for the Digital Equipment Corporation and as a freelance writer.  Among her many passions in life, writing poetry, music, playing the guitar, traveling, Nubble Light, her cats and family brought her the greatest joys.  She was a woman of great faith who shared friendship with many at Townsend Congregational Church.  Though Kathy struggled with mental illness and many physical disabilities throughout her life, her kindness and love for others, especially her grandchildren, endeared her to all she encountered.

A private graveside service will be held in the Franklin, NH Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton.  Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Kathy E.
