Members of the Public Gathered To Share Ideas and Perspectives regarding current Opioid Crisis

As the number of drug overdose deaths in the Commonwealth continues to rise, members of the Opioid Crisis Working Group created by Governor Charlie Baker gathered this past Tuesday, March 10th at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester for the first of four public listening sessions. Hosted by Worcester County Sheriff Lewis G. Evangelidis, over 400 people attended the event which was designed to gather feedback and ideas on the best ways to halt the current epidemic.

At last Thursday’s Tri-Town meeting in Lancaster, Minuteman High School unveiled its long-awaited plans —and price estimates — for revamping the region’s outdated career and technical high school. And the top recommendation (so far) is for a new building by 2020.

Last Saturday morning, local Rotary Clubs headed up an army of volunteers to package 12,000 meals for the Stop Hunger Now non-profit group in just about 45 minutes. The event took place at Nashoba Regional High School.

On Saturday, March 21, for the first time in recent memory, the three towns of Nashoba Regional High School will come together for a major fundraising event for the school. Along with bringing in some big dollars for the high school’s athletic program, organizers hope Nashoba Boosters Athletic Club’s Casino Night, at The International in Bolton, generates some tri-town spirit among Stow, Bolton, and Lancaster.

For 2015, fitness trends are going Back to the Basics and, according to fitness professionals here in Stow, clients looking for a good workout are becoming enamored with what is most familiar – walking, running, basic calisthenics that harken back to school physical education class, weight lifting and group workouts that combine all of these elements within a moderate to high intensity format. Individualized programs created and monitored by personal trainers are also gaining in popularity.
