Last night’s Nashoba School Committee meeting focused on how the district is working to help students lead physically and emotionally healthier lives. But, it was the ongoing argument on combining half- and full-day kindergarten classes that generated the most heat.
Discovery May Lead to New Lyme Treament

A new look into the intricacies of Lyme disease – the dangerous tick-borne infections we pick up in backyards and woodlands here in Boston’s suburbs – shows the corkscrew-shaped bacterium causing Lyme has a surprising metabolic quirk: it needs no iron.
This important discovery, discussed recently in the scientific literature, is important because it may offer a new avenue of attack, an exploitable difference that medical scientists may use in devising effective new treatments.
Nashoba Softball Powers Through

The Central Mass. Tournament is in full swing this week and Nashoba Regional’s top-seeded softball team is in the thick of it.
The Chieftains commenced the post-season with a bang last Saturday afternoon as senior pitcher Emily Sargent took command in a Central Mass. Division 1 quarterfinal against ninth-seeded Algonquin Regional. Sargent pitched a complete game, struck out 10 and whacked a home run, powering the Chieftains to a harder-than-it-looked 3-2 victory before a large crowd at home.

School Drug Search Leads to One Arrest

“Their faces were all plastered to the windows,” said Bolton Police Chief Vince Alfano of students at Nashoba Regional High School on Monday, May 19. They were watching a team of law enforcement officials conduct a K-9 drug search of the parking lots, moving from car to car in quick succession. Alfano describes the operation as part of a 3-prong effort to combat the presence of drugs at the high school, planned and executed by Bolton Police, State Police and the Nashoba administration.
Minuteman Agreement Still on Hold
