Summer Concerts at SCP

The band Illusions kicked off the Recreation Department’s new summer concert series at Stow Community Park on Thursday August 22. After an earlier concert had been postponed due to rain, the weather was beautiful, perfect for sitting outside and enjoying live music.

Although this year only two concerts were scheduled, the Recreation Commission hopes it will be the start of a new tradition for the town. “We’re happy to add this event to the Recreation Department offerings for town residents,” said Recreation Director Laura Greenough. “We hope it grows and we can offer more than just two concerts each summer.”

As Nashoba Regional High heads back to school today, many Stow students will be adjusting to a number of changes in personnel and facilities at both Nashoba Regional High School and the central District office.

At NRHS, perhaps the most visible new face belongs to Kerry O’Donnell, who has taken over Tracy Calo’s position as assistant principal, announced Principal Dr. Parry Graham. “She is a rock star, she will be wonderful,” Graham enthused.

The scout team, mostly underclassmen, wears yellow pinafores for this drill. After a few snaps, head coach Jamie Tucker calls for a sub from the sidelines. The player scrambles, looking for a pinafore. The assistant coach on the sidelines takes him to task: You need to be ready. You need to take advantage of every opportunity; give coach a reason to notice you.

With more question marks than usual hanging over the Nashoba Regional football team as the first game of the season draws closer, those words could serve as a mantra not just for players on the bubble but for the team as a whole: Be ready. And get noticed.
