Though still not completely finished at the 12 anniversary, the Freedom Tower rising impressively above the Financial District, and the two fountains at the footprint of the Twin Towers, is a powerful and moving memorial to the tragedy of 9/11. People are now able to enter the area easily and read the names of the victims etched along the edges.
Jonathan Daisy;

This is the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States. Photographer Jonathan Daisy visited the National 9/11 Memorial this past week bringing back some poignant photos, one of which is found on our front page. Our thoughts are with those who still feel the impact of that day.

Our Subscription Contest Giveaway 2013 ends this week with our last winner of a Shaw’s $50 gift card, Bruce MacGilvra.  Many thanks to Stow Shaw’s for providing the gift cards for the last 8 weeks of the contest. But even though the contest itself is over, we’re still happy to accept new subscriptions and renewals of course! Congratulations to all the winners!

We’re gearing up for fall in Stow, which means lots of apples and lots of weekend traffic. It also means a lot of events coming up, so please be sure to get your announcements in by deadline- Fridays for Wednesday publication! Stow events have first priority based on space and event date.

I was writing out checks last week and Tim had accepted the job of sealing and stamping the envelopes. When the task was done, he handed me back the roll of stamps, which I keep in a pen cup on my desk, and I promptly and efficiently put them away – in my half-full coffee cup.  So close and yet, so far.
