Give Yourself Thai Time

By Ann Needle

With temperatures falling, and Oscar-contender movies cropping up, the dinner-and-a-movie crowd springs into action. And with a wintertime default on our national debt looming, don’t let a dysfunctional Congress spoil your fun: Head to Thai Time in Clinton, where your dinner choice tonight will likely leave something for tomorrow’s lunch.

Admittedly, I don’t hold the euphemisms when dishing up reviews—still, there aren’t enough to describe this luscious little find. Conveniently located around the corner from the Strand Theatre – one of Earth’s last remaining $5-ish cinemas— Thai Time’s off-the-charts cuisine makes the perfect pairing with the evening’s movie.

Medical Marijuana Vote at Town Meeting

By Nancy Arsenault

Now that 63% of the state’s voters have approved the placement of medical marijuana facilities in communities, will Stow be one of these locations? The Planning Board held a forum last week to gauge public opinion, but with few attendees, they did not come away with much resident input, leaving the regulating process, at least at this point, fully in the hands of town government.

Help Wanted for Open Table

By Ann Needle

The scheduled cutbacks in the federal government’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) coming next month have put private food pantries in the spotlight. For those anxious to help keep the less fortunate in the area nourished — and put some professional and leadership skills to work — the Open Table in Maynard has several openings.

Started in Concord in 1989, this all-volunteer organization marks its 25th anniversary this year, serving a free, weekly dinner to those in need. Its newer Maynard location, in the Clock Tower Place cafeteria, serves those in Maynard and surrounding towns, including Stow, according to Open Table’s Jeanine Calabria. The Concord site hosts a meal on Thursdays, at First Parish Church.

Marlboro Slides Past Chieftains, 28-24

By Jordana Bieze Foster

In a close football game between two evenly-matched teams, the victory often goes to the team with the last chance to score. But things didn’t quite work out that way on Friday for Nashoba Regional, whose night ended on the Marlboro 13 yard line and on the short end of a 28-24 decision.

Nashoba (now 3-2) had led 24-13 in the third quarter, but even after that lead had evaporated and Panther senior quarterback John Rumney found senior receiver Matt Thall in the end zone for the go-ahead score with 68 seconds remaining in the game, the
visiting Chieftains refused to concede.
