Matteo Faso of Stow participated in the 14th Annual Northeast Regional Braille Challenge reading, writing and spelling contest held Saturday, March 8 at the Carroll Center for the Blind.
Faso, 12, a 5th grade student, was one of 27 students of varying ages and levels from across the northeast who participated in the event. Faso competed in the apprentice/rookie level vying with seven other students in feats of spelling, comprehension and grammar.

Heading into the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, Stow native and Bowdoin College senior Coby Horowitz’s resume of collegiate distance running honors already required a certain suspension of disbelief. The human cooing that greeted a guest canine at Nashoba Regional High School on March 4 could make an unsuspecting visitor believe they were dropped into a dog show. Actually, it was a show—state police were recently showing off just how a narcotics-sniffing dog can, very effectively, hunt down illegal substances at the high school.
