Brownie Troop Collects for Kids

“Our vision is that one day every child will have the essentials they need to feel safe, warm, ready to learn and valued,” reads the mission statement of Cradles to Crayons, a Boston-based non-profit agency that Stow’s Brownie Troop #72518 has set out to help.
Through the end of this month, the girls will be collecting all sorts of items for C2C that fit the organization’s motto. Collection boxes decorated by the troop can be found at Center and Hale schools and at the Post Office, according to Brownie Leader Alicia Kerr, who heads up the troop of third graders with fellow leader Helen Shaw.
June for Center Project Closing?

Though the Center School community is enjoying its new building, the school is not yet completed, officially — and that may need to wait until as late as June.
The Elementary School Building Committee was told Monday night that the damaged pavement in the visitor parking lot may take a while to repair. Currently slated to be fixed during April vacation, the job may take more than that week. If so, the work will need to wait until school is out in June, according to Owner’s Project Manager’s Rep. Neil Joyce.

Buzzer Sounds on Tucker Coaching Era

On Sunday January 20, the Nashoba Chieftains held their annual football banquet to recognize the accomplishments of the 2012 team and bid farewell to the graduating seniors. This banquet also served as the forum for longtime Head Coach Ken Tucker to announce his retirement as the Chieftain’s coach.
There was no confetti or Gatorade bath for Tucker, but the theme of “going out on top” couldn’t be more obvious, as the Chieftains ended the 2012 season with a second consecutive Super Bowl victory, capping a second consecutive undefeated season.

This Super Bowl Sunday, nothing may bring comfort to the bereft Patriots fan faster than an invitation to watch the game in a state-of-the-art “man cave.” These rumored rooms of comfort supposedly are fitted with flat screen TVs on steroids, plus all the plush couches needed to squeeze in a bunch of burping fraternity brothers.
Nashoba Proposes a 3.9% Hike

The Nashoba Regional School District proposed a 3.9% budget hike last night for the 2013/14 school, up from a 3.1% increase in 2011/12. This puts the total potential budget at $49,054,064, before adding in projected revenue and grants.
However, in comparing the two years, changes in legal requirements on financial reporting mean the estimated hikes for the total budget and the net budget, are not being measured in the same way as last year. Wood explained that items have been moved for accounting purposes from the gross budget to the net budget.
