New School Safety Standard Passed

As the country made some final decisions at the polls last night, the Nashoba School Committee took votes on some substantial issues of its own.
Committee Vice Chair Maureen Busch of Stow launched the meeting with a moment of silence for Stow’s Leah Tepper, 19, a graduate of Nashoba Regional High School, who passed away November 1 (see related story on homepage). Chair Nancy Federspiel of Bolton was absent, along with Stow Reps. Lynn Colletti and Jeff Odell.

XC Runs Away with League Titles

Running strong into the post-season, the boys and girls cross country teams each were crowned Mid-Wach B league champs on Saturday. The girls won with 19 points and six of the top ten spots, the boys with 25 and seven of the top eleven finishers, each easily distancing themselves from the competition.
Freshman Rylee Gillen continued her dominance, coming in first with a time of 19:35.2. Gillen was followed by fellow freshman Grace Dempsey at third (20:25.4), senior Kara McCormack fourth (20.25.1), junior Kelsey Horowitz fifth (20:40.6), sophomore Natalie Bettez sixth (20:41.2) and senior Taylor Brady tenth (21:37.4).
Past Tense…Haunted Brick House

Talk about haunted houses in Stow and most residents will tell you “nonsense.” One exception would be Francis King, one of the former owners of the red brick house in Gleasondale who was adamant that this 1814 house was haunted. There are other things about this house besides being haunted that are very unusual, as told in a 1980 article published by Kathy Olohan in the old Stow Villager newspaper.
